    Computer not turning on

I bought an Asus gaming laptop last December and ever since coming to college, have barely used it. The last time I used it was probably two months ago, and I went to go on it yesterday and it wouldn't turn on. None of the lights were on that are usually on, and i've tried taking the battery out and putting it back etc.

The only thing I can think of is 2 months ago (around the last time I used it) my roommate had friends over and they spilled beer on it. They wiped it off etc, and I turned my computer on to make sure it still worked, and it did. I'm thinking maybe the beer leaked into the battery or something though?

Anyways, I have a 2 year extentended warranty from Best Buy for it. Do you think it'll be covered? If not, anything I can do? Would replacing the battery work? or is it more of an internal problem?

Don't tell them you spilled beer on it because you might not be covered in the warranty, just tell them it won't turn on. This happened to me with an old laptop a few years ago after I dropped it by accident, it never turned on again after that no matter what I tried.

Yeah I don't plan on telling them that, but when they look at it / open it up, won't they be able to tell it was damaged by liquid?

I'm sure they'll be able to tell what caused the damage, but they might not be as willing to help if you just say yeah I spilled some beer on it and now it doesn't work.

They may find it they may not, atleast you have a chance. Who knows it may not even be the beer but if you tell them about that situation guaranteed the beer will be blamed and you will receive anything back.

Do you have or does your home insurance cover damage to property?

Doubt it. I doubt my school has any policy about property damage such as this.

I would just take it back to Best Buy. It's always worth a try. I've also read something about getting all the power drained from the laptop. Try removing all cords and battery. Then hold the power button for 30-60 seconds.
