Computer keeps crashing to a black screen

Whenever I play a game, within 30 minutes my computer decides to crash with a black screen and restarts itself. It sounds like a motor when its doing this and im not sure if its a gpu problem.

I can watch HD videos and all that fine, just when I play a game it crashes.

    Any suggestions?

Sounds like a motor? How old is your PSU?

This could be simply fixed by re-installing your OS. However try updating/reinstalling your graphics drivers for your computer and see if that does anything. Also is it a particular game it does it on? If so, just try reinstalling the game and see if that makes any change to it.

Might get overheated for some reason

Post your specs and download Speedfan and take a screenshot of the temps in normal state and when playing the game (after like 10mins of playing)

Im guessing that your GPU is fried. So literally, each time you run your computer, then openning a game forces more power to go through your GPU causing it to overheat due to insufficient airflow.

The insufficient airflow may be caused due to the computer being old, dust clogging up on the fan and stopping it from rotating and max speeds, if the fan spins slowly, the heat builds quicker before it can be blown out of the rig.

Firstly I would turn off your computer. Wear some plastic gloves i think it was so you dont short circuit any hardware, open your computer, find the graphic card, disconnect the graphic card from its slot, you will need a screwdriver then take a closer look at it. If the fan is clogged with dust either unscrew the fan and clean it or get some comperssed air and blow it around the fan to get rid of the dust.

Also check all the parts of your computer where air leaves the rig. Make sure its not covered by dust. If it is, use a vacuum cleaner to remove the dust.

If you need more help post here or PM me.

You probably have a really bad air flow situation, a build up of dust, an unsuitable PSU (upgrade) or fried GPU (unlikely)

Whenever I get problems like that, after exhausting all the hardware problems (things that wouldn't be fixed with a re-install), I re-install my operating system. I don't care if I fixed the problem or not. Once it starts malfunctioning, I just call it fucked and re-install, rather than risk it happening again.
