Computer help
Is there any way to buy something to
add to my laptop that will make it faster?
And is it possible to change the graphics
card of my laptop? Here's the specs:

-Intel Core 2 Duo processor T520
(1.5GHz, 667 MHz FSB, 2MB L2 Cache)
-Up to 358 MB Mobile Intel GraphicsMedia
Accelerator X3100
-2 GB DDR2
-160 GB HDD

Also, my desktop sucks balls. How do I
"speed up" my desktop? What do I buy
so that it will be faster? I don't mean
like antivirus or defrag, I mean like things
I can get at BestBuy or something that
I add to my computer.

If you want to do anything hardware related to your laptop I would recommend you have Best Buy do the installation themselves as it's considerably difficult.

If you post specifications for your desktop and the types of games/programs you run I can make some recommendations.

Hmm, How do I tell the specs of
my computer? There's like no
stickers on it. There are stickers
on my laptop, but no on my
computer. How do I find the specs?

As Nullware said, it's better to get somebody experienced to upgrade hardware on a laptop. I've upgraded a CPU in a laptop in the past, and it took around 60 minutes as it was a bit difficult to do.

To make your laptop faster, you'll need to replace that Core 2 Duo T520 with something faster.

As of your desktop, you'll need to upgrade the CPU aswell for faster speed. Replacing a CPU in a desktop computer is much more easier than doing so on a laptop though.

Hello, how do you upgrade the CPU
on my desktop? And what the fuck
does the Core Duo do? What should
I replace it with?

Lagbot, go google "AIDA32". It's a free utility that will tell you more about your computer's innards then you ever wanted to know, processor type, video/graphix card, etc.

If you want to max out speedwise, I suggest you go for 4 gigs of RAM (that's the max for a 32-bit OS) and upgrade to the second-to-newest CPU chip (it's alot cheaper then the newest one). You can also dabble in hardware accelleration/overclocking if you want to.

How do I get 4 gigs of ram? Is the
4 gigs for my laptop or for my
desktop? What would the second
newest cpu chip be?

Computer help
Try Crucial.com, they sell RAM pretty cheap. I just bought 4 gigs last night for 70 bucks - well worth it.

I'd try getting an AMD Athlon dual core if you can, they're about as good as you can get.

Why AMD? He has a intel socket on his laptop. and no Athlons are not as good as you can get, it's in a lower class of quad core Phenoms

I have both a laptop and a desktop.
How do I check the specs of my
desktop?

As stated above download AIDA32 it gathers specs for you.

It would be cheaper and easier to upgrade your desktop though and we can't help out until you post some specs ;D The best way to upgrade your desktop would be replacing the CPU and adding RAM but it also depends on your specs as if its quite old it would be better to update your motherboard as well. As well as a graphics card.

In all this would probably cost around $400 bucks, less if you buy used parts off ebay.
