[Community Input] What would you like to see on Sythe?

Hello Sythe users! All of us from the Community Development Team want to thank you for being loyal members of Sythe! We come to you with open ears and we are interested in hearing aboutt what you want to see on Sythe. Be it more community events, discussions, reward etc.- We want to know about it!

I remember that Sythe was working on his own chat client that you login with your sythe details, I'd really like to see continued development of that.

A really nice feature would be optional upload of your chat logs to the sythe server which at that point become uneditable and used as valid proof in scam reports etc. Maybe he just needs to know that we're really interested to get it going? Maybe we could get some developers from sythe to volunteer to help out? Whatever it takes I'd like to see it up and running!

I was thinking something more like a downloadable client similar to msn using sythe login credentials and optional uploading of chat logs. It could be a more secure replacement for skype and I'm sure if he added a few "fun" premium features he could get people to pay for a full version or something. It'd make scam reports a lot easier as well saving the time of taking screenshots as you could access your text logs somewhere on the sythe server and just link the full conversation in your report.

Also I think the association with the kingdome game distracts from what it really could be if developed a little. Also there are third party clients that could be used if we didn't want to develop our own that could still work in the same way that I described.

 

I don't think something like that would ever be implemented, it's too much work. The other chat client is just as good, you login with your sythe details, I don't know if chat logs are saved though.

 

Then the online client could at least be re-purposed. First something separate from the kingdom chat would be made. You could have to be signed in to use it, then you could add people to your "friends list" (or at the very least go into private chats) and then enable or disable chat logging to an uneditable online page. Then when you posted a scam report or something a simple link could take you to the entire conversation. I think it'd be a super useful tool and I'd definitely consider using it for my trading. 10x easier than screenshotting every single part of a 500 word im conversation.

Honestly though if a bit more effort and we could have our own downloadable client that does the same thing. He could add custom features and release a "full version" for $4.99/year or something (to cover development time) and I'm sure lots of people would use it.

 

There is or at least used to be a seperate chat from kingdoms, I lost the link though. You can also PM people in kingdoms and that other chat.

 

Yeah but if it exists it doesn't have the features that could really be used to make it great/its not made available enough considering neither of us have the link xP

Anyway, I'm going to leave this open for other suggestions, that was just something that I'd like to see implemented someday. I think a it'd really helpful and a better alternative than skype.

 

We will take note of it and potentially discuss it in the future. We would have to get it endorsed by administrators before we could proceed though.

 

Isn't this why we have a suggestions forum? I think you've confused yourself as to what you want to ask the community.

I want to see more discussion within the community, although this can't happen if nobody wants to contribute. We could have some form of "open mic night" where us, the community could bombard the CDT with questions relevant to each specific member IE; what is your personal aim and motivation? That could potentially bring a more defined relationship between users and CDT/staff.

More events that have an incentive, I really liked the idea of the quiz, so whoever came up with that idea, touché! You could even have a competition where the competitors would have to come up with a strategy or idea to get the community more involved?

Just basic thoughts.

 

I think something RuneScape based would be a lot of fun. Something like Fist of Guthix or maybe Castle Wars would be fun.

 

I proposed this myself, we're just trying to think of how to work around timezones and organisation at the moment.

 

The open mic night actually sounds like a great idea and I'm sure everyone in the CDT would be up for that.
I think Ziggily was right to make this thread though, some people think making their own thread about an idea seems silly and/or might be shy about it, so posting here or PM'ing one of us might make them feel better about sharing their idea.

@Cabbage I've been thinking about Runescape events and competitions but it's hard when everyone has different time zones and different likes in the Runescape aspect, if anyone has an ideas I'd really love to hear it as I can supply the prize for the winner and something little for the person who brings the idea forward.

On topic: I would like to see:
1. The sythe raffle brought back
2. Some actual contests not in the SF. I love the sf but the contests are a popularity contest and tbh someone such as myself or other popular members could win every time. I think contests judged on the quality of the entry would be nice. :')
3. It would be nice to hold more games (pool, checkers, battleship). Try and match people's time zones so the tournament doesn't take 2 months so the community can get onto the next game. :')

 

We could possibly have some form of PK tournament / duel arena competition, some form of ladder competition? ah but then we are limited to who can join - account stats wise.

 

This already exists. Download any xmpp client and connect like that.

 

dang zigg you making the other new cdt members look bad. keep up the good work. Id like to see more of a community presence. Games and such, once a month isnt cutting it. Love the idea of pool tourneys and etc..

 

I actually thought about that having a duel comp, but as you said stats wise it sucks, but I guess it wouldn't be bad for those who have good accounts to battle others with good accounts.

Considering hide and seek as well - But again time zones really suck.

I'm waiting to see how well Add My Msn's quiz goes and if a lot of people enter I want to create a runescape type one.

what about this "sythe chat" that we were shown in a spam forum thread, is that still coming along? (something to replace skype for trading)
