Colors!

Ok, this may seem REALLY confusing, but try and hang with me here, okay?

Do everyone see the same colors?

I see a marker, you see a marker. We both say it's "green"

green is just a word, something that we've been taught. When we hear green, we attach it to the color. What's to say that my green doesnt actually look like your red? or all of my greens are different shades of black?

 

Stop posting this ignorant topic's in SFA, This is general discussion bull shit... Unless you are interacting with a colorblind person, then yes.. The marker is green.

This is an unanswerable question, as one cannot experience things from the viewpoint of another.

 

I've thought about it before. Thanks to science, though, we can tell whether or not somebody's rods and cones in their eyes are the same as everybody else's.

Due to most of the population having generally the same color identification abilities we could assume most people see the same thing. Yet in science it only takes one counter example to prove a point wrong. So we have to account for the color blind and those with vision problems.

That's pretty much word for word my view.

What if someone has a color identification problem between red and blue? he'd never know. Not that it'd really matter

But to answer the question to find out the absolute truth. Get a color shade of every color from white to black(if you want to use different colors as an example, be my guess). Tell the persons to identify which color is this green marker the closest to, if not exact.

Or you can just look at the rods/cones and determine from there. Which has already been stated.

And as for this, as it was abandoned in the 20th-century, then recently rediscovered. It's only a matter of time before its abandoned again because of the lack of data needed to keep the case open.

Color coding wouldn't work. Your green may be someone's purple, it would be chaotic.

If you ask any first grader to pull out a red crayon, they will be able to do it without pulling out each and ever one to see if it says red. I guess it just has to do with the wave lengths.

 

I tried to explain this to my substitute bio teacher. Isn't it called the inverse color theory or something? But if you don't get it, let me try and explain it for you.

There are three people. The mediator, test subject 1, and test subject 2.

The mediator tells test subject one to take a red object from a shelf. He does. What he pulls out has this color: llllllllllllllllll

The mediator tells test subject two to take a red object from a shelf. He does. What he pulls out has this color: llllllllllllllllll

They both see different colors but call them the same thing. It would be like this for everybody. If there were multiple test subjects (3,4,5,6) they would see lllllllllllll llllllllllllllll lllllllllllll and lllllllllllllllll when asked about the color red

 

Well basically its the same for everything. Is the word "Car" even matched with the item "Car". Its the same for everything..

 

Stuff like that is pretty common in "special" English.
