Live Sythe Chat

I think a great addition to the sythe.org website would be a live chat like that of facebook. Also a report button which reports entire conversation to sythe "scammer reports"
Reasons:
*You can bypass MSN & AIM (Not everyone has this.)
*Sythe would become a lot more safer as you can guarantee they belong to the sythe community.
*No need for a PM
*Easier to gain evidence for a committed scam

It's a nice idea, but as mods offer their time for free, i highly doubt it will be possible to host a live chat 24/7 for free.

 

-Live chat is useless and not all Mods are on all the time.
-I don't think the info you get on Sythe alone is enough to get someone banned.

 

Discussed and denied before. Would lag the site too much.

 

Maybe a "Direct connect" option would be best. Where you can chat 1on1 with somone instead of having to go through an IM program.

 

Yeah at least an alternative to MSN/AIM which is for the sythe community only.

 

It wouldn't help the site's speed. Also, if you just want
to chat with other sythe members, just go on irc...

 

If it was hosted seperately, then it'd be great. But if it was hosted on Sythe, it would tax the server.

Sythe already lags enough as it is.

 

I had an epic plan for something like this about a year ago. There were several reasons why it never went ahead, the most prominent being we don't have anyone to code it properly.

 

i agree, but won't it get spammed to much? like people gonna advertise their ''shop'' etc?

Stan: Think outside the box. We could set measures against that happening. Also, it could be dealt with fast if there's a moderator on Sythe, which there usually is.

 

Well, a basic IM system COULD be done in something as simple as Visual Basic. When I say simple, I don't mean it would be simple to create, just simple in relation to a proper, full-blown IM system which is probably coded in Java/C++.

It'd take a team of proficient coders to work for days on a project they aren't being paid for. It could happen, I just don't think it will.

 

yes true, so i support if you get like kicked out of the chat for 5 mins every time when u spam or something, else i don't support.

 

Support, I think this would be a good idea.. much easier to talk.. etc

 

Because, If someone scams you on irc, it's not really good enogh proof is it? :/
