[DENIED] Clean up discussion sections

Gunna keep it short and simple. 'Discussion' sub-forums are being used to advertise websites/clans etc and, despite being in dedicated areas for discussion, the only thing keeping them active is the word 'bump' every 8 hours - hardly suitable.

Suggestion is to clean it up, a) in terms of rules i.e. no bumping unless anything is added to the discussion - key part here being it must be useful/of substance or b) add other sections for places to advertise where users can just look through a sub forum of websites/clans related to their needs.

Not targeting anyone with this, it's just frustrating to see and clear abuse of the idea of having places for discussion. Examples below:

Going to be using the same argumentation I used for the removal of the stickies in the Community General subforum. The specific subforum isnt very active, therefor I dont see any harm in how things are currently handled within the subforum. If the examples mentioned were pushing new threads away to the second page I would agree. Right now I am indifferent about the suggestion.

 

Lack of activity seems a poor argument to continue allowing advertising in a discussion sub-forum. I'm arguing that a lot of the current threads there don't comply with 'discussion' and therefore have no place there. I think just changing the sub to something more general or allowing ANYTHING related to the certain topics to be posted there would probably deal with the issue.

Should they not be advertising in the Market thread as that alone is marketing. I understand clans etc isn't marketing but people advertising company's and products should be in the marketing area. Clans personally is a discussion topic from what i see. a lot people put spam topic's in there cause its the discussion section. To us it's spam to them and a few select others its a discussion/recruitment. Bumping is apart of keeping your Recruiting and Marketing up and out there It's off topic which applies anything. but i do agree with rules being added for marketing as it should be in the marketing area and not spam sections. Maybe a sub recruitment section also. I personally don't know if there is one for recruiting on teams, But i always watch the marketing sections myself and its just people really recruiting others for jobs and not Advertising company's and products. Too me this all went through my head right but i'm most likely way out of this topic. I only read your post and not others! But interesting and good post any how!
