    Cinema 4D Tutorial: Specular Settings

Hello Everybody, this is just a quick tutorial I suggest you look at if you use C4D and do not know what "Specular" is.

    1. Accessing the specular menu:

Create a material in C4D by double-clicking the materials window.
Next, Double click the material you create.
There is a set of tabs to the left, click Specular

    2. Changing the setting in the specular menu:

Either select an option from the dropdown menu,
    [IMG]
or uncheck the checkbox next to the place where you originally entered the specular menu from.

    3. Results:

Notice how the plastic has alot of glare and the color is distorted.
    The metal is rather dark.
The colored option is balanced, and very similar to the none option.

    4. My recommendation:

Plastic: NEVER use plastic - However, this is default
Metal: Use it for backgrounds and glow effects
Colored / None: Use this for the foreground

    Good luck!

Kindof useless, as you shouldn't use the specular lightning on text anywhom, but still nicely written.

Well I normally put the None option on, and on some sigs, the metal option makes a decent separating effect between the foreground and background. Lately, however, I have seen alot of people use plastic specular, and it is extremely annoying IMO.

Not to be pessimistic but I side with Kin, as this tutorial kind of is useless....
