Can we please get a few verifiers that actually play runescape and will test it. Lately I've been buying very bad guides at steep prices. They're either leaked or don't come close to their stated amount. E.g. Verifiers verified r2's guide 4 times by 4 different people and they're also verifying guides that were leaked months earlier on sythe. It's all good to say you get X amount in theory but when you actually test it you get way less even if you do it at the fastest possible rate. I'm not suggesting me but I'm suggesting runescape veterans that know the game.

I agree. I know some verifiers that go on tinychat, and they talk about how they hate doing it and that when someone asks them they just say they are busy and refer them to someone else. Most are pretty lazy tbh.

I have to agree with you here. There are some guides which are plain stupid to sell. Here are some just to name a few.

Seems exactly like my guide. http://sythe.org/showthread.php?t=829926

Then there are countless of guides ripping each others.

Depends who plays runescape on a regular basis and knows there stuff. I bet I could get at least 3 leaked guides verified right now.

If it's the exact same guide, then they'll be banned. No question. However, people are allowed to sell the same type of guide as someone else. It's not leaking if it's the same method as more than 1 person knows the method and it's possible that the person who got leaked from leeched it off someone else.

    If that made any sense...

I was just about to suggest this. Nobody goes into the verified guide sales anymore, due to the fact that tmoe is the most active verifier in this area. I'm not saying he's the only, I'm just saying that others aren't as active as him, and most have only verified 5-10 guides, he's probably at 20-50+. He's good at it and people can trust him, but there needs to be some other way of having verifying members that can look at guides, see:

And hit them up on MSN, get the guide, and verify it right there. To have multiple of these, the verified guides section would be BOOMING again.

    Wholeheartedly support.

It doesn't make sense. Not practically at least. What people are actually selling in a guide (at least on this site) is not eloquence or grammar - all people want is a way to transfer gp, earn gp fast, etc. No one cares what the writing says, as long as, when it comes down to it, the method can be understood and it works.

That said, I could buy a guide, condense it into a few sentences, and resell: Bank, buy bolt tips, ..., etc. That's still ripping. Plagiarism covers ideas, not just phrasing, and the chances of two people coming up with the same method on their own is low; when it does happen, it's first come, first serve. Moreover, as noted above, buyers have no idea what method they're getting before they buy it. By verifying duplicates, members end up buying multiples of the same guide for no reason.

Finally: can we get rid of guide verification yet? -.-

I believe the reason verifiers are lazy is because of the fact that they get almost nothing. Just getting to know the secrets of the guide isn't good enough. And has a lounge been added for them yet; where they can create a list of already verified/sold guides to catch duplicates?

That would be a great idea, somewhat like a list that the verifiers could check in a sticky and add to depending on what the method is. Make a collection of all of the verified guides, and have it for duplication checks!

That's simply another flaw with the whole thing. Guides with mediocre rates have a much lower chance of being verified, since the verifier is likely to already know a better method for himself. You really think the solution is to offer them the guide, plus a cut of the profits made from it? And again I raise issue with the forum suggestion, since if the seller doesn't trust even one of the officials verifiers, they're stuck.

The vouch system was fine, and as long as a guide appeared sound, there was always someone willing to buy it and attest to its quality.

I'm sorry sir, but I believe you are wrong. If a guide is already sold, it won't be verified again, even if it's not exactly the same text.

    Verifiers

If a mod was specifically dedicated to that section, things would be a lot of easier. There are currently only six verifiers, a little too few IMO.

And as for which guides to verify first, I think they should verify those that have been pending for the longest amount of time. That sounds fair to me. And all I'm saying is a small price cut. $5 or something sounds reasonable, and would encourage them to verify more. Who doesn't trust the official verifiers? If they don't trust them, they can't trust anyone here.

Most people got scammed that way. Countless duplicates flooding the section, and random moderators just making an estimation whether it works or not in reality. Again, I believe if we try, we can make things much better in that section.
