    Applying for a job..

So when applying for a job, there's a part of the application that asks about prior work experience. If you say you have prior work experience, it asks for all the details, then asks, "May we contact this employer?"

My situation is that I got fired from my previous job, but not for any reason that makes me a bad employee. I'm not sure if it's better to say that I have no experience or to say I have worked there, give all the details, and say it's not okay to contact that employer. If I go with the second option, there's a possibility I could get asked about what happened when I receive an interview and what happened is borderline theft and that definitely doesn't make me a good candidate..

    What's the best approach?

I would say its not worth the risk and just say you don't have any prior experience. If you say you do have prior experience and then when asked if he/she can contact previous employer, you say no, he/she will think you are lying.

Just say you didn't have any prior experience.

I doubt any place wants to hire you if they hear that you got fired at your last job for theft.

it wasn't actually theft, but explaining the whole thing to a future employer isn't worth the effort.

And I'm just applying as a server at a restaurant near my town.

You could always just use a different contact person. I don't know where you got canned from but where I worked when I was younger there was your supervisor and your specific manager as well as other managers and I just used my supervisor for a reference (didn't get canned from the job though).

    Applying for a job..

I'm in a similar rut. One day, I had gone to work blazed as fuck, and I had accidentally brought my sack with me. I didn't know it was in my pants until it fell out of my pocket and my supervisor found it. She was cool, knew I smoked, and gave it back to me after work with no hassle. Her boss ended up firing me. They didn't care if you were high, but as a few of the other employees had heard about it, a bitch ratted me out. My boss was lenient towards me, but had to lay me off. And I do completely understand that, because if he let me off the hook it would make the establishment look bad as a whole. I'm asking a question within your question. Should I mention this in the same field? I'm glad you made this topic, because I didn't know about how to make the approach of asking somebody. It was my first job, and I had worked there for two and a half years.
