    Scammer's profile link: Mustang

    Explanation of the trade:
We set the price in BTC, I sent him the amount asked, the blockchain took too long to confirm - 2 hours later I asked him if he would send the GP or should I cancel. We decided to cancel the transaction.

I asked him when he gets the btc amount to send it back (- the fee of course) but because BTC had rose since the time he got it he only sent me the amount back the value of BTC of what it was worth in USD.

I sent him 0.01191504 (-0.0001 Fee so he received 0.01181504)
He sent me back 0.01156638 (0.00024866 Fee so I received 0.01126965)

    0.01181504 - 0.01156638 = 0.00024866

He has kept 0.00024866 BTC with 0 reasons. I asked him to send me back the amount (- fee) when he gets it. I do not see how this is right. Simply bad practice. The transaction became void before he received the BTC amount. He never sold the BTC into USD which would have caused me getting the lesser amount due to BTC rising.

If he had gotten the BTC, sold to USD then after 7 hours I wanted a refund. Fair enough I would get back the USD amount in BTC as he sold it already. BUT he never received the BTC and I told him once he does send it back - the fee. This is simply bad practice.

We dealt in BTC it should stay in BTC. He kept saying if BTC dropped I would of complained. Which simply false. We were not dealing with alot of money here. I was also willing to pay the fee for refund. I had 0 objections to the fee. It's a matter of principal here. He decided to keep the delta for his own profit which he did not own. The profit in BTC rise was my gain as I had cancelled the transaction since he did not want to give me the GP until 1 confirmation and I had waited over 2 hours with the BTC confirmation taking too too long.

    Amount scammed: 0.00024866 BTC

How they scammed: He decided the keep the BTC amount portion equal to the rise of the BTC/USD and only give me amount of BTC back in USD Value

The screenshot he gave me which shows he only sent back 0.0115 (it also shows the fee which is why I only received 0.0112, which I was happy to pay the fee but not being taken advantage of by him not sending me the whole 0.0118): https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachme...45404672/9cbc4342064e48f0efc1a6204f9126f3.png

As I already told him on Discord too, but seems like he didn't read it or did not understand it:
**I am sending back the exact amount I receive and cover the BTC price change myself in every scenario, even if the price would have dropped, I would've sent him back exactly the 97.5$.**

That is not my problem that he decided to save money and send the transaction with a really low fee at that time which caused the confirmation to take that long.

As you can see, 97.46$ received and 97.64$ sent back. Everything done right by me in my opinion.

    I apologize for the inconvenience.

And again like I said, we transacted in BTC, you send back the same amount - fee. At no point did you sell in USD or did I send in USD.

You essentially took profit when you did nothing. The amount you took you stole. That was my BTC.

and again WE TRANSACTED IN BTC. Stop trying to change it to USD. We used BTC full stop. You send back the whole amount I sent you minus the fee.

I dont get how you can justify this. You never sold the BTC amount to USD so I dont know why you keep trying to use USD as the conversion amount.

    Completely dodgey practice.

Yes we DO have to turn it to USD. It is impossible to sell gold and say the price in BTC amount. For example I can't say I am selling 1m 07 @ 0.0000075 BTC/m, instead of that we use 0.64$/m.

I could've delivered you the gold when the transaction was confirmed and everything would've been cool. But as you wanted refund I sent you back the amount I received from you.

If you can't accept the price fluctuations of cryptocurrencies then maybe it is not for you.

And again let me tell you WE DID EVERYTHING IN BTC.

We determined the BTC amount. I sent you the BTC amount. You should then refund me the BTC amount I sent you.

Thats how the refunds should work. At no point is there USD in the sending and receiving process.

EXAMPLE - I go overseas (I am Australian). I go to the USA. I buy something from USA worth 10$ USD (Get charged by my bank lets say 16.50 for conversion). I go to return the product. But hey when I returned the product price of AUD has went up From AUD 1.65/USD 1 to AUD 1.60/1 USD. Is the store then liable for the fluctuation?

NO they return the same amount I paid in the currency I used to pay.

I do not see how you not get this point.

I transacted in BTC. You send back in BTC, the same amount.

Final reply I will let mods provide input here. Like I said I was happy to pay the fees in the sending and receiving of the process.

USD was used to determine the BTC amount to send. I DID NOT SEND/TRANSACT in USD. We did it in BTC. So you should send back what I sent you (- the fees). You never sold the BTC so I dont get why you try to convert from USD to BTC when you never sold the amount you received from me.

You should send back all the BTC I sent you - fee

BTC is just a payment option. It will be calculated into USD anyways when delivering or paying for something. But I guess just let the Sythe Staff decide the outcome. These long essays won't lead anywhere, just making the whole process longer, as they would have to go through all the unnecessary text.

    @Mustang and @Zabuzaxxq
Can we see the conversation where you discussed the refund, whether it was exact BTC or USD?

    @Zabuzaxxq
As a specific bitcoin refund wasn't mentioned/agreed upon in your chat with him, we would default to the usd value which is what @Mustang correctly refunded. I would also advise using priority fees for future transactions - It is disingenuous to send a transaction with low fees, then ask for a refund because it didn't confirm fast enough for you.

Have also advised @Mustang to not refund if a situation like this arises again. If you're sending with low fees, then you can wait however long it takes to confirm.
