Changing username? Not a suggestion.

I was just wondering, I'm almost certain but could someone confirm that the idea of being able to change your username on here has been suggested, and does anyone know why it's not possible? (Sorry if you've read this question loads of times before!)

 

The only way to get a username change is to be promoted to staff and to be deemed to have an 'unprofessional' username. You are then offered a change.

Username changes aren't allowed because it could cause confusion, not to mention people could scam and then just change their name.
