Depression is a huge battle that I struggle with everyday. Someday's are worse

then others. I feel like I have to fake a smile just to seem happy so people don't

ask questions. I'm not suicidal I guess I'm just trying to find something to bring

happiness back into my life. For those of you who are religious I find myself

falling away from my faith faster and faster. Just wondering if anyone has any tips.

Is there a specific reason for you to feel this way? Just try to be positive, try to find some activities to clear your mind and dont think of these stuff

I have the same battle and it just gets worse :/, the only real advice I could give you here would be to get some help, trust me for most people the medication works great, and seeing some one as well is a great idea. A combination of help and medication is the best way to get through something like this.

I have been on anti depressants before they honestly don't do anything for me to be honest. I have tried the Councilor thing as well as much as I don't want to admit it. Doesn't work.

Let's see - What is or what do you think is causing your depression? Are you stressed constantly from someone or something? I'll check back often.

Try lifting. I started at a time when I was very depressed and it helped me a ton. If you're interested, I can go into a bit more detail and help you get started.

What you need to do is identify what's making you unhappy/depressed and then you can work from there. If you're just feeling depressing in general at EVERYTHING then try and do different things with your life just small changes to get you out of the "rut" you've set yourself in.
Depression is hard to just "snap out" of I understand this but with little changes here and then you'll start to notice a big difference, don't let things get the better of you and continue to have faith with whatever it is you believe in.

I'm sure there is 1 thing in life that really makes you smile? If there is do it more often. Do things similar to that one thing that makes you happy and I'm sure you'd start to slightly feel better about life.

At what times of the day do you feel most depressed? I know that at night time when I just get into bed, is when my mind becomes most active. If this is the same for you perhaps you could read a book to relax your mind, used to help me quite a bit when I was younger.

To try and answer everyone's questions I usually feel depressed as soon as I wake up when it happens and it lasts usually all day. Until I go to sleep it occasionally even lasts into the next day. I have tried working out and it helps a little bit but I don't know how to necessary lift for it to make a difference never really been that big into weight lifting.

What do you think is causing your depression? Do you have a general idea of why this could be stressing you out?

This is VERY true. At a time when my ex-girlfriend broke up with me, I became very depressed over it. I started lifting weights and everytime I thought of her, I pushed myself even harder and now I have an awesome body :p

Try it man! It definitely relieves stress, plus it produces hormones in the body that make you feel good. Plus you'll look better and become healthier, which in turn will make you feel good as well!

So what if I am unaware of what is making me depressed then how am I suppose to push myself towards something? For example your ex girlfriend you pushed yourself towards thinking of her. Well if I am unsure of why I am depressed then how do I go about finding something? If that makes sense.

Hey man, appreciate you posting here looking for support..
how is your life, in a social aspect? do you have many friends? how old are you? this small information will let me better determine how you could go about defeating this demon.

Depression is a serious issue, in a sense that it tends to overpower any other feeling you may possess. I suffer from major depression, although not diagnosed, I know this personally. I find the best way to overcome such a thing, is to socialise with friends go out and do some adventurous things, nothing beats a peaceful environment such as a forest or something, the fresh air and serenity seriously opens your mind to a much more positive solution. This may be difficult for you to do such things, as depression can also cause fatigue it may or may not make you feel empathetic toward socialising with others and actually getting off your ass to do something interesting.

Exhilarating experiences such as sky diving, white water rafting, bungy jumping and many more give such a more powerful emotion than what depression does.

Life is difficult, on a case to case basis it's worse for some than others. I find medication is only a temperamental solution, and will only worsen things as time passes, an easy way out, if you will.

Grasp life by the loins and take control over your depression, you can do this. There is no real solution and/or cure for depression, rather you have to get out and there and keep yourself pre-occupied.

Oh it's true for sure what you're saying. Depression does take a hold on you and it has on me. But if you've read my other thread you know that there is this girl. Well whenever I'm talking to her I'm happy but you can't talk to someone for 20 hours a day everyday of the week without it being way overboard? At least that's how I see it.

    One bit of advice...

I have suffered from clinical manic depression/bi-polar for many years, and haven't taken any medication majority of the time.

One thing i've found to help is... experimentation.. with everything, how you think, what you do, the people you see, sex, drugs, music, fun.

let me leave you with this quote, it always helps me.

“Believe nothing, no matter where you read it or who has said it, not even if I have said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense.” – Buddha

Actually man that helped a lot. Thank you for that honestly. It's honestly going to be a work in progress and just have to see what happens.

    Hey man, don't sweat it.

Alot of days/nights, i'll feel empty. Pure emptiness, a unfillable void, nothing with fix.

In these moments, I like to learn, i don't try to make myself feel better, i just better myself with knowing that when i do feel better, i know more.

Always available to talk, anytime. I'm not one to coach you, or tell you you need to FIX this, depression shouldnt be looked at as such a bad thing.

Depression is one of the strongest tools a person can possess, it isn't for the feeble minded.

Trying to better yourself is a good way of looking at it but you know as well as I do that it doesn't always work that way. Not taking a bad approach I'm not saying it is easier said then done.

I understand what you're saying I honestly do. It's just being able to overcome the mental block that I currently have going on.
