C4D World

I personally do not have the program C4D, have never used it and by the looks of this forum I see C4D everywhere.

To my assumption C4D is relatively easy to use, but my guess is
if you are skilled enough you can do very similair affects and make it look better in adobe photoshop.
So COME ON PEOPLE! Use adobe photoshop more =D

 

Umm... C4D is a 3D program... you can't do a fraction of what you can do in C4D in Photoshop. People use C4D quite a bit because making text in the program is easy. After a few tutorials on YouTube, anyone with the program can make nice text. Not to mention the program itself is easy to pirate.

 

imho C4D is ruining graphics in general. While it's nice to have the textures and abstract C4D's, it is overused and whored in general.
(No offense to any of the sig makers, but imo 99% of the current market just started copying Kinaesthic.)
Although most customers do like c4d sigs because they advertise, they should really only count as graphics in the market section unless they are well made because someone can make comparable text in microsoft wordart

 

You can't make the animated fx, but you can make the same 3D pictures in photoshop it just requires a lot more skill.

Kina did NOT bring c4d to me im sure. I do not see anything wrong with c4d other than people looking at a few tutorials then thinking they are bosses at c4d. Also, why does everyone download c4d just to make text? its kind of the same to programs like maya. Its made for modeling im sure. And people i wont name on this forum cannot even make good looking text and they sell gfx. c4d is not easy trust me im not claiming to be a master either, but ive seen how tough it is.

 

It's pretty obvious that you are trying to replicate C4D in your own sig, and if you made an honest comparison, you would notice that what C4D can achieve via mathematical laws you are forced to do by hand, which is beyond impractical when you are layering multiple effects at once.

 

Lol,, what an useless discussion going on here in my opinion.. Photoshop and C4D are both different programs, I myself have never used C4D but I'm pretty sure you can do things that you cannot do in Photoshop (like modeling for lets say a game character) or at least not as well,

@AddictingArts,, You're absolutely right,, i wish people would go and look up some artwork that is made in C4D ,, making 3D is easy to make after reading a few tutorials,, and you can't do that shit in photoshop,, no way

 

Photoshop is a bitch to learn because you can't just go tick something that says 'Volumetric Lighting' and get good lighting. I mean anyone can download some light, smoke, and lens flare stocks and do what Kina is doing with some practice. I mean look at ChineseKid he was starting to get close to Kina's style and then gets banned on some BS. Though I don't agree with his actions afterwards the original ban was bogus.

I started learning real 3D modeling in Maya and Zbrush and it is difficult, but people just text, extrude, textures are just capitalizing on a whoring style.

 

Yep, this exactly. And by far the biggest problem for the marketplace is that users ONLY want that whored style. If you can't do it then you have no business, so what's the incentive to even bother trying something else which requires far more effort with uncertain outcomes every time? Make text, push a couple of shadow filters and throw some textures on top. Winning formula!

Yep,, true about photoshop being a bitch to learn. Making text in any program is easy to learn in my opinion,, but to use certain programs to make what was meant for that program to make?.. now that is difficult

And good job learning 3D modeling,, I use Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator and Premiere but i never started doing 3d modeling, i wish i could practice doing that, but i dnt have C4D, Maya or Zbrush,, it looks difficult xD

 

I'm not saying Kina brought c4d to you, he didn't invent it. However, he was one of the first (on Sythe) to use it for text-based signatures. As soon as people saw how much success his text-based signatures had, many more shops sprung up. (You can look at the OP date for most shops. The only one with an earlier date than Kina is SpraynWipe, and I don't think he used C4D signatures at the beginning).

No, but at least on Sythe, text based signatures were not common at all before Kina came. He started using C4D for modelling text. C4D had been used for textures, and abstract things and a bunch of other stuff before hand, but Kina was one of the first to use it the way it is mostly used now (on sythe, not saying anything about any of the other GFX sites).

 

There are a few members including myself and W000t who have been here long before Kina ever thought about being here. The facts are that the only reason that the style ever got popular was because Kina got mod somehow and everyone fell in love with it somehow. Look at when Finn posted that 'legacy' sig back when he was 'taking donations' - it looked like crap but people were willing to pay like $20 because it came from someone popular on the forum. These places don't breed creativity, they breed singleness. If you are trying to be new or creative then don't peddle your wares here.

 

Exactly, Kina was the one who popularized the C4D text sigs.

 

Well the style WAS quite new and interesting, and it really was amazing to look at for the first few times. Then it just got boring, with EVERYONE wanting one, and no real diversity between people's sigs. At least Kin is now delving away from that same template, as I noticed his newer work has some originality to it.

But yeah he did make the style popular on Sythe, and if it worked well for him, you can't blame people for wanting to do it for profit as well. I'm pretty much guilty of that, but I do my best to make it unique and true to my own creativity every time.

Long story short, if you're going to copy someone's work, implement your own ideas and styles. It works better in the end for everyone.

 

Yeah, I will give you that. They are cool for the first 10 times you see them, but then when you learn what effort it actually takes to make one it just becomes sad when you know they're people out there who work harder and more creatively for less pay. If I wanted to I couldn't even sell a traditional sig here anymore even though 200% more experience and probably double the time goes into it. That is what happens when you don't work for other creative peoples - the skills and technique are damned.

We are a year later and the style hasn't really advanced any from text, background abstracts, light stock, texture stock. There is only one style to go for in it

 

First of all, I never came, saw kina do 3d text and copy him. Until this thread, I didn't even know what program he used.
Stop complaining about how people only like this 3d text style. You can't really change that. I hardly think that kina's style got boring after a while. You have to admit all his sigs are extremely similiar, yet, users keep buying from him.
