Can you truly believe in God and in Science?

I'm a strong believer of science although I do believe there is some things that science can't explain as of yet.

 

Religion is another way of screwing up your scientific theories.

Scientists neglect religion so they can strongly believe science more than religion, which has insufficient proof whereas science can be proven by theories.

I believe in both.

Due to the fact that God gives me hope, while I neglect religion in some theories.

 

You can't really say "can you believe" because people can believe in what ever they want to.
I personally believe in science and evolution because even in this day and age, animals are evolving in their environment so they can survive.
Some elephants are being born without tusks in areas with poachers. (Ill find the link later).
I don't think 1 is true and one isn't, as there is no poof. However I choose to believe in what I do because it's more logical to me.

 

Until Science flats out disproves Religion I will believe in both. I consider myself a "Science Christian", as in I believe in God but science comes first so if science ever disproves the Bible I will probably be abandoning ship.

Also the Big Bang God theory mentioned above, what is so farfetched about God creating the Big Bang? When the Bible says God created the Earth in however many days, who is to say what type of days we are measuring in? Probably not Earth days.

Well, the scientific method is really good at making useful predictions. Religious doctrine is notoriously bad at that, to the extent it is even intelligible in that context.

It doesn't mean that religious ideas are useless (though many would argue for that). It does mean they have so far proved useless in the empirical realm of making useful predictions (which is damn important).

 

You can believe in god and in science, but not in science relation to God. Science in the topic of god is to state that humans are created by something OTHER than a higher-being, you can't turn around and agree with this, but state that there is a higher-being. You're contradicting yourself and don't make any sense. But, you can believe in God and believe in science to cure aids, as they are different topics. This should be pretty straightforward and sound dumb, but the question wasn't really a thoughtful one.

For starters though, not all Atheists, or anyone who believes in the way of science doesn't mean they are all up on the Big Bang Theory. That's just one theory. There are others but the Big bang is the biggest.

Back to the topic, most people who believe in Science and God, they believe there is a God, but not that he created the earth, or created the human race. They still believe in evolution, but they believe there is a higher power, and something more then.. Nothing after death.

Well I don't know about other people, but I believe in Science only, and not in fairytales like that of God's creation.

 

The two ideas do not contradict each other, well at least not on a religious point of view, so is totally fine to have both believes. Hell, even Einstein believed in a form of higher power.

I am a right wing extremist who believes only in capitalism & individualism I reject the idea of collectivism working and I believe the Republican party are all way too left wing to deserve 1% of my support.


I study theoretical physics, I am a Deist who does not understand organized religion and I think I have an above average understanding of science.


Fun fact the religious left are growing while religious right is shrinking. You are confusing Christians with right wing while its true Atheists are more often liberals there is little correlation to support Christians to right wing. The Atheists you see who are liberal are just Fascists who like to ban things because they don't like them.

Also known as the god of the gaps, a creator becomes less and less as science fills the gaps. If you went back some odd years ago before we knew what we did now you would be using less scientific reasoning and more supernatural answers to things we now explain through science.
