Can you truly believe in God and in Science?

    From a religious point of view;
    God created the earth
God populated the earth with life

    From a science point of view;
World's existence is due to the big bang theory (model/theory)
Life evolved from a simple organism into many species

I will not put my opinion in this post, but will in subsequent posts.

My question is "Can you truly believe in God but also in Science?"

Or do you believe you have to choose one or the other?

You can believe in a God and the way of science. Only if it's not in your traditional sense of "word for word" terms.

Think of it this way, not as many people take their religion word for word from their book anymore. I use to be christian but now i'm i don't even know what to call myself.

I think that evolution has evolved and taken us to the present day, but I also believe there is some sort of power that judges good/bad, and is reason for some things happening.

I am a Diest I believe in a God / Creator. I study a lot of physics in my time I really enjoy reading things about how the universe came into creation pre-big bang. I am an advocate for the Cyclic Universe Theory but its starting to lose support.

Believing in a god makes no difference in your knowledge of science. I believe in a creator but I also believe the big bang, evolution and other scientific theories that are pretty much proven.

I am starting to get skeptical of most modern "science" these days though while we are improving thinks like our knowledge of the universe our science about our own planet (things like climate change) is just getting stupid its all turned into political bullshit not science.

    Put it this way,

Do you think God just spoon fed the entire world and came down and started poofing up people? No, he knew we wanted to trace our roots back because it is only HUMAN to question ourselves.

I believe God brought science here in order to "scientifically" explain most things, even Einstein has said there must be a god because there are somethings that science can not explain. God brought us religions, science, etc. in order to maintain faith in a higher being.

I grew up christian but there is a kid half way around the world growing up hindu and i am in no position to say his religion is wrong. I believe God gave us Buddha, Jesus, Darwin etc. and gave us the Bible, Qur'an, etc. in order to lead us all around the world because there was no way one man could do such a feat in one life time so he sent several teachers.

    We are all one.

I'm torn honestly, I'm not sure if I do believe in god or not which I'm sure if he was real he'd understand me questioning such things?
When you have so many people who do things in gods name for all the wrong things, like churches taking money for greed, priests touching little boys and just people constantly shoving stuff down our throat.

What I'm leaning towards is that god put us on this earth and said that it's up to us what path we choose, if we choose to throw our life away and do bad things then that's YOUR choice, he will help guide you and give you rules but if you go off the rails then it's your choice.
Again, because of some religious nuts science is behind at least 1000 years, we could of had cures for everything by now but because people take "God" too seriously we're behind in it.

Can you truly believe in God and in Science?

I have thoughts on God' like existence.
But the whole story on the bible is a chinese whisper book in my thoughts.
Things have been made to sound better than they are i believe there was a 'jesus' with some very 'godly like' skills similar to those of todays 'derren browns' and many other magicians.

Some things that can be done to magnify the actual skill they are using.

But yes i think its possible to believe in science and god.

Because i do believe in a way of both 'god' could have made the planet by causing a big bang. but my question is

If everything was produced by science we must all be related and all be incest. Its the same if god produced adam and eve. We would all be brothers sisters. so in ways that doesnt make sense. also every creature up to date on the earth had to start from some kind of fertilisation..

How can you get a egg without a chicken?
i ask myself over and over again.. Maybe you could produce an egg with another chicken like creature... but how that chicken get produced..

Everything is too weird and i wish i could answer.
But how can 1 human produce another without another sex.

how can 2 humans produce babies that produce babies?
    That would make everyone incest.

its the same with every other creature out there.

But i believe in a god and in a science, i just dont believe in them in the ways they have been told to be.

i believe in my own ways.

Belief is irrelevant when speaking of science. There are only facts explained by evidence. If there is no evidence than it's either a hypothesis still going through the scientific method or a cool story that is ultimately false. The claims of deities, the supernatural of all kinds, does not factor into what science can cover, which is within reality, i.e. the universe. What counts as existence is of this universe, since claiming anything outside of it is a fallacy that can better be explained by my good friend Stefan Molyneux: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ScEeCrNsnpY&list=SPC1647D7F937DDE7A&index=8

Yeah, God created earth but so did the big bang.
I believe you cannot believe in both, you have to choose.

It's not really a matter of belief for the latter. And the big bang is for the whole universe, not just earth.

Well u have 2 choices.... Believe in a magic baby born by a virgin.... Which his church just so happens to own the most property in the world n dont pay taxes... A book written by man, which pretty much eliminates everything good in life. ORRRR believe in science and technology with the evolution of man. I choose science fuck the bible fuck jesus and his shitty ass 10 commandments. Have fun live life and live by ur own rules. bible = enslavement.

    I don't think that's right?
The big bang is a theory that's put out there to disband the belief of God/Jesus, trying to prove that science created the world, not some man.

God, if real, didn't create the world with a "bang" hence why he has no connection to the "big bang."

I don't believe in either. I know God exists, and I know (as do most of you) that science futhers our understanding of Nature.

Do you think it's possible we would have already annihilated ourselves had it not been for the "setbacks"? Think the threat that nuclear weapons pose for the world today.

Is it fair to say the Brahman gave us the Christian God, as well everything else you've listed?

Can you truly believe in God and in Science?

Actually, I'd never thought of this way.
I did have a prior opinion of todays technology/science being scary enough, but you never know what might of happened if we had science back 1000 years ago, maybe nuclear weapons weren't needed? The human race never had to create weapons such as guns because science offered something more?

A little while back I heard someone had successfully created generic food, being able to grow it 10x faster than a normal crop, end of world hunger perhaps? Or just another disease waiting to spread throughout the human race? I guess we'll never know what could of happened had we had science 1000 years ago.

Can you truly believe in God and in Science?

I don't think science and religion are opposing ideologies. READ THE WHOLE, I PROMISE IT'S IMPORTANT!

Its very simple if a religion is truly from God, it should coincide with reality, right?

Therefore, I believe God created this whole universe from a single point, which we call the Big Bang:“Have those who disbelieved not considered that the heavens and the earth were a joined entity, then We separated them..” (Quran 21:30)

God created human beings and sent them to Earth only for the single reason of worshipping him ALONE without any partners, and this small time we will live - max 80-100 years- if we spend this living a righteous life in the way God has prescribed we can be awarded eternal paradise and vice versa because the indisputable fact is, we are all going to die at some point -- and of course if every single living creature does not worship God it does not decrease his power by a single bit.

Since the beginning of human beings on Earth (Adam&Eve), God sent thousands of messengers & prophets to each nation/group of people to convey to them to worship only God alone. To help each prophet/messenger he gave them miracles, which suited the people to whom they were conveying the message so that they could believe that these men were prophets. For example, the people of Moses (peace be upon him) were very advanced in illusions/trickery so God gave him the miracle of magic. The people of Jesus (peace be upon him), were advanced in medicine so he was given the miracle of healing people etc.. These prophets were also given the revelation we now know as the Psalms, Law of Moses, and the Gospels but these are not available today in their original forms. We have thousands of manuscripts but scholarly studies have conveyed that there is dispute over the content.

Therefore, as God had planned, He sent a final messenger named Mohammad (peace be upon him) a bit more than 1400 years ago and revealed to him the Final Testament which would remain till the end of time as proof of his prophethood and as a guidance for anyone who wishes to understand the true religion of God as preached by Abraham, Moses, Jesus etc (peace be upon them all).

Of course, this is a huge claim, so whats the PROOF?

Obviously, you all have never met me, but youre reading my post hence you know about me. Similarly we dont have to see or meet God to know about him. His revelation can tell us about why we are here and where we are going. So, read on..

The Qur'an revealed over 1400 years ago is still in its original form without a single letter being misplaced since then and two of the first copies can be found in Museums:
‘’We have, without doubt, sent down the Message; and We will assuredly guard it (from corruption). (Al-Hijr –Stone land-:9)

It is free from ANY contradiction:
"Then do they not reflect upon the Qur'an? If it had been from [any] other than Allah (God in the arabic language) , they would have found within it much contradiction." [4:82]

Today we know the universe is expanding through a lot of modern technology and the acceleration of its expansion is unknown and is thus called DARK Energy, but this was revealed 1400 years ago to an illiterate bedouin, Mohammad (Peace be upon him):
“And the heaven We created with might, and indeed We are (its) expander.” (Quran 51:47)

The proof is just too long to list here, I am urging all of you, my Sythe buddies, please look into this and dont understand Islam from what you see Muslims doing and more importantly from Fox News or its likes!

Heres a video of a compilation of some of the miracles of the Qur'an (You might want to skip some, they may not be very convincing for you):
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ekIMXhEYh8

Heres a website for even more miracles of the Qur'an:
    http://miraclesofthequran.com/index2.php

Sorry for such a long post, I hope you read this and find some interest in researching further, worst case scenario is you'll learn how more than 1 billion people around the world think! Thank you & Take care!
