RuneScape Display Names

Okay, so as some of you may know, Jagex has said they will be clearing inactive RuneScape names yet again. Now, I never saw the original post or thread saying it directly from them, it's just what I've heard. And what I've heard is it should be this month sometime.

Now, to find names rather than sit on the name change page itself, I add them to my ignore. Sometimes they come up as numbers (when someone gets their named removed) like [#2034812834] and what not. In cases like these, the name is sometimes available and sometimes isn't. I don't get it.

Does anyone know how the display name system works? Or have an educated guess?

And also, if you've seen or heard about the Account clearing, could you give the specifics?

i got a question , which may or may not be related to ur post....how do u know if some1 had changed thier display name??

 

Once the "Last known as:" icon goes away, there is no way to tell if they changed UNLESS their name has a letter that is capitalized / lowercased whereas normally it shouldn't be such as : A) a name starting with a lowercase or B) A capitalized letter in the middle of the name.

And yeah, I use the ignore list because if a person has changed within the last 30 days, it will be a last known as name, which are also unavailable. But once their time is up, that name becomes free. So if they're on your ignore list, and you see the icon is gone one day, it means it's become free.

I used to use the ignore lists thing too, but added too many names.

Once a couple turned into number strings, I couldn't remember what names they were. lol.

If you find any evidence of the clearing up, post it please.
