Can you go to prison for not paying fines.?

So I went out for coffee this morning. walking down street. police car pulls up and says I have warrant for arrest.takes me in and puts me in cell. Police are mocking me saying If I don't come up with $1350 I'm going to prison( for some reason 4 of the officers were familiar with my situation). takes me in front of judge in handcuffs. even the judge seems familiar with me and seen me as some sort of degenerate. actually asked me if i been before him before and I said no. He seems keen on sending me to prison for 3months( didn't even bother to ask why I owed the police department.) all of sudden officer that brought me up starts acting like a bro and asked to give me 2weeks to make payment. and have hearing in weeks. judge agrees.

tells me to dress well and such.

it was two incidents of public drunkeness and disorderly conduct.

I do runescape services for like $2-300 a month and have $0 saved.


can they really send me to prison for public drunkenness? how did officer even recognize me walking down road? and how was everyone familiar with my situation? I'm shocked

That entire situation sounds like a load of bollacks to me my friend. I'm sorry to hear tho, I would definitely reach out to friends and family maybe have them help you out. You can contact a lawyer and enlighten him/her with the situation, I believe calls or appointments r free of charge if not free very cheap. Best of luck.

Edit: If they did NOT have an arrest warrent like you mentioned, that is something you can file a lawsuit on. Like I said, reach out to a lawyer and have them guide you. Without a warrant you can file a pretty nasty lawsuit.
