This is a stupid question. Yes, you can travel faster than the speed of light. Well actually, you're going the speed of light to you, but to others you just disappear. Here... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oRWwI61so5Q

The reason you had before was that you would die due to the craft traveling back in time. You didn't say anything about the force being to great for a human to handle.

Maybe in your opinion I am like talking to a brick wall. It's just for me to believe something I need justifications for conclusions.

In order for any amount of mass to reach light speed it would take an infinite amount of energy.

Can the Speed of light be broken?

    Well i fount this;

A pair of German physicists claim to have broken the speed of light - an achievement that would undermine our entire understanding of space and time.

According to Einstein's special theory of relativity, it would require an infinite amount of energy to propel an object at more than 186,000 miles per second.

However, Dr Gunter Nimtz and Dr Alfons Stahlhofen, of the University of Koblenz, say they may have breached a key tenet of that theory.

The pair say they have conducted an experiment in which microwave photons - energetic packets of light - travelled "instantaneously" between a pair of prisms that had been moved up to 3ft apart.

Being able to travel faster than the speed of light would lead to a wide variety of bizarre consequences.

For instance, an astronaut moving faster than it would theoretically arrive at a destination before leaving.

The scientists were investigating a phenomenon called quantum tunnelling, which allows sub-atomic particles to break apparently unbreakable laws.

Dr Nimtz told New Scientist magazine: "For the time being, this is the only violation of special relativity that I know of."

claim is the key word there
    I don't believe it

I would say yes. When there was the Big Bang, temperature was said to be ∞. I don't see why it couldn't happen in speed.

Can the Speed of light be broken?

    It obviously can.

Seeing as Chuck Norris raced light to the moon and was there for 15 minutes before light got there!

But on a serious note, I think that as technology evolves, scientists will come up with new theories on the speed of light. Its all a matter of time before we discover something like this.

Can the Speed of light be broken?

Yes the speed of light CAN be broken if the technology to bend space-time is invented. It would be possible to create an airfoil-bubble in space-time that would be able to pass the speed of light as space-time does not have mass.

The estimated energy required to do this would be converting jupiter into energy via the equation E=mc^2, not to mention the technology doesn't exist, however this is the most modern physics theory.

That's an early understanding of quantum tunnelling, it's now known as sub-atomic scale teleportation instead of breaking the speed of light.

Can the Speed of light be broken?

Well Ive herd that the speed of light can be broken but on a small scale using the Hadron Colider.

Certain phenomenon can exceed the speed of light but nothing capable of transfering information can exceed that speed.

    Comcast powerboost :)

Back on topic : I honestly never thought anything could, but it seems like some other posts have proved me wrong.

Can the Speed of light be broken?

No, it cannot. The universe extends at the speed of light, there is no possible way to travel faster than it. Take it from a Astrophysics Minor.

I don't believe this is true. People have broke the sound barrier, and i'm sure they've broke the speed barrier.

Can the Speed of light be broken?

    Speed of sound = 330m/s.
    Speed of light = 300000000m/s.

    Small difference between the two.
