This is a real question, as an example there is a treadmill behind me if you were to turn it on I get 4000000 ping and D/C.

Than I'll be afk, when I come back i'll have less ping, than I sit down and it goes up.

Is this something to do with wires or location?

I honestly don't think it has any relevancy.

Is this via a router or modem?

Anything that operates at the same frequency as your router will cause interference. You can prevent interference by getting rid of whatever is giving out the same frequency or by purchasing a new router that operates at a different frequency. Most of today's routers operate at 2.4GHz. So purchasing one that operates at 5GHz may solve your problem.

On this matter, you could also get a dual-band router that operates on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz.
