well students are paid to do well in school.... scholarships....

as for being paid, cashin pocket, thats ridiculous.... we are not dogs, we dont need treats to make us preform an action. we should know what needs to be done without expecting to be compinsated in the end.

    general education is payment enough.

thats all well in theory, but if school wasnt compulsary then how much 5-16 year olds would actually go to school? none. we would have a generation of uneducated no hopers that regret not going to school. its compulsary because at that age they dont know whats good for them. and in australia school is only compulsary up until year 10. which is about the age of 15-16, which is the minumum age to get work. you saying youd want kids wasting there life away doing nothing for 15 years then try and get a job with no education?

Most kids have parents who see the value of education and would send their kids to school.

Yeah we studied this in psychology too. I forgot the correct term but its if you love doing something but then start getting paid to do it, you will not love to do it anymore.

Right now i dont really think it matters since just about everyone hates the shit we learn in highschool + required classes in college. So getting paid for it will be a good incentive to do shit that we already hate in the first place.

But yeah education isnt what it used to be. Forcing kids to learn shit makes them hate learning and kills curiosity.

I do and don't agree with this. Motivation is hard in school if you don't know your future career path (me for example). There's nothing you're motivated towards, it all seems pointless. I disagree that you should work towards money though, I believe there should be some other reward scheme.

Off topic: I also disagree with EMA (if you're from the UK) Ema is an allowance given to people aged between 16 - 19. You get £30 a week and a bonus of £100 at end of month. The problem is that you only recieve EMA if you're parents gross income is less than £20,000 a year. Doesn't this persuade people that if you don't work you get free things?

Bribing students to learn and study is a terrible waste of tax dollars our parents are paying. They'll never be able to reach their full potential if they depend on money to go to school and study.

    Wow, someone is retarded!

    Okay, answer this ..

Why would we want our students of today to fail in tomorrow? That would mean that some of us *lose* money meant FOR tomorrow! Picture .. Students get paid to do well in school. They do well, and get money. Since they do well, they get better degrees. With better degrees comes higher paying jobs. The more money someone makes, the more money the government gets!

It's called taxes. America will be around for a while. They have time. They're willing to wait 5/? years for a student to hit it big. It's not like all of their money is being spent. Like he said, 500,000 has already been used. Well, that has to range in over 10,000 kids, right? Well, when they get older, it'll only take 1,000 good paying checks to make that money!

The government will get an estimated BILLIONS in profit. Over the span of 70-100 years, the government will be in the TRILLIONS and ZILLIONS. They're smart .. It's just that most of you don't think like them .. :D

I don't know why you faggots are complaining about wasting a few hundred thousand of tax dollars on education when we have a FUCKING WAR IN WHICH WE WASTE $200 FUCKING MILLION A DAY AND ALREADY WASTED A FUCKING TOTAL OF $500 BILLION OVER 5 YEARS STFU

High school is stupid to me, barely anyone I know is actually interested in learning the stuff they teach you there. Kids are forced to learn and do work against their will. This is basically a job and many many kids hate it and stop caring about it, but some are patient enough to struggle through it till the end so they can finally do what they want.

I am for it, being in school means you can't get a job and make your own money to support your family, but with this idea, your job will be incorporated into your education so lots of time will be saved.

My only concern is that kids in the poverty ridden neighborhoods will start enslaving smart kids into doing homework for them and this whole money thing will get into gangs and shit. But hey if they all have study sessions and shit that will only be good lol.

Hey faggot, we are talking about public education, not the equally stupid war.

The real problem is mandatory education, which is hardly different than enslavement.

I'm for it and against it, I'm for it because if it's the only way to get an education for the majority of todays youth, then so be it. Even though it's an embarassing fact on behalf of the US that they have to pay students to do good.. sad.

In my opinion, let the system be.

Everything in life that you do, or in general atleast, has a reason you did it (cause and effect)

    Examples:

You lifted that ruler - you needed to measure something
You did well on the test - you needed some money, or you wanted to get into a good high school/college
You smacked yourself (this is for anyone that questions the scientific fact) - you felt like you needed to do it. You never do anything without a reason.
when you say "I didn't think of that" or "No reason at all" the reason is because you felt like it.

Another good example would be, I wrote that paper because it's my job and I get a check at the end of every week for it.

Personally, I think it's good because it helps people understand more of what they're doing and why.

I think the one who need to learn then he will pay to learn not get paid. It's a stupid idea if someone love learning then he will his best to learn if not then he will neva learn even if u paid wat u want.

Money is an incentive to work harder, but it only works if the students are paid bonuses for doing well on their course. This is how it works for the poorest students in the UK.

    Edit:
Look at the real world. People who don't have higher education usually earn less and "full potential" sure as hell isn't realized by someone who could've been a university graduate if he had been given the incentive, but who works as a cashier at Walmart.

Its a great idea to pay people for doing well as thats the way it works when your in a job you get paid for doing a job dont you?
Most kids get paid by their parents for good grades anyway?

I don't think this is a good idea. Although, I am a student currently and I would be more then happy to be receiving money for studying.

I see it more of a bonus. Mainly because I want to study and do big things. And i think that if this does happen, it would be more of a reward.

I do not suggest paying people that do not have the urge to study, or will only study well because they're getting paid.

Its ridiculous and I know plenty of people that want to drop out of school when they're 16 and get $5-10 a hour living with their parents.

I find it completely logicial actually.

Students can be paid to do well in school, because if they are paid to do well then they will get better jobs in the future. These future jobs will provide much of the capital that gets sent back through increasing income taxes for the higher wage people so that the majority of the population can move out of the lower wage class.

Why should I pay for people do well on test. Doesn't benefit me just makes me work harder for jobs.

If anything the parents should give the money.

like $40 for a test I would make sure I aced it.
