Would you rather be born blind, or go blind?

Well Daily brought this to my attention, and Loren and I were talking..

Would you rather be born blind, or live a good 15 years of being able to see and then go blind?

I honestly don't know, but probably the second option.

I would rather be born blind..
we take advantge of sight everyday..
and how it goes - we never know what have tell its gone -
100% born blind

Edit 1 - Lets say you could see for 30 years of your life..
you have kids and a very very fine wife..
BUT WAIT.. WHAT happens.. Boom your blind..
you cant see your kids.. you cant see your wife..
You would feel even worse than if you were born blind..

The feeling off.. having your dream.. in your face.. than ripped apart from you.

 

I would rather live as long as possible with my eyesight, so at least after I don't have it anymore I'll know how to interpret what I cannot see with what I can hear, feel, etc.

I can't even imagine not knowing what "seeing" is. I don't think anyone can.

 

I would rather be born blind, if I went blind now, it would be very very hard to live. Being blind is very difficult and adjusting to it is going to be hard, who knows I might end up committing suicide. But if I was born blind, I would already be adjusted.

 

Why wouldn't we take advantage of our sight?

I would rather live 15 years then go blind. At least I lived my life without being blind and I can remember some memories I can treasure.

 

We stare at the computer almost half a day.
if someone who was blind of all his life just got site now?
he would do whatever he could to enjoy life.
if just got our site.. we wouldnt be here. we would be exploring..

I'd rather be born blind, than be able to know the wonder of having a sight, loose it, then be miserable because you can't see again. It will be hard to adjust.

 

Definitely be born blind.
It would be incredibly difficult to re-learn to do everything without your site where as if you're born blind you would be raised as such and would have much more time to adapt to the situation.

 

ya born blind because then you grow up learning how to live blind and if you go blind its like a shock you feel that your eyes are open but you see nothing and that would just be a terrible feeling and if your born blind you dont know any other way only from wht you hear

 

I see both points people are making but i think i'd rather have eyesight to begin with and then go blind. That way i can understand things better since i would have seen them before. I can then imagine colours as well and stuff like that.

If you were born blind you'd touch things but since you'd never seen it before, you'd never truely understand its shape or form. Or not in my opinion anyway.

 

I think, that all people who say that they better be born blind are stupid. Because i rather "Go blind" then be born blind, because there are so many things in the world to see that i can't just be born blind, at least see some of them.

 

Well, I was born (legally) blind and I'd have have than be born with full sight and then lose it later.

If you never had it, you won't miss it.

 

I'd rather be born blind, because then I wouldn't know what seeing is and thus wouldn't miss it if I were to eventually go blind.
