Can runescape-like games be written in C++?

I have finally mastered C++, and i want 2 know if a game LIKE runescape can be written in Visual C++ 2005 Express? Thx!

 

Trust me, you aren't close to mastering C++. And of course it's possible.

Just because you've mastered C++, or any language for that matter doesn't mean you understand the full implications of it. He very well could have mastered it (incredibly doubtful, yet still possible despite the ease with which many languages can be mastered.) It follows that just because you've mastered C++, it doesn't mean you've mastered the endless amount of libraries available for it, nor algorithms (in this case 3D.) In fact, you could be a complete idiot and still have mastered it (of course I'm taking his statement at face value.)

3D mathematics is an abstract theory and isn't tied to any specific language. Therefore it is possible for you to know even though the "C++ master" doesn't.

 

What is your definition of mastering C++? Understanding the syntax? Using the STL?

 

Understanding mundane syntax rules and any eccentricities associated with them. Of course you won't be able to do anything noteworthy with that knowledge alone, but at least it's possible to master it.

 

By that token I have mastered nearly every language I have ever come across. I've mastered scheme because I know that the syntax is (function argument)? I don't think so.

 

Heh there can be made small games like Super Mario or another logical games.

 

Ah yes, that shows a lot of intelligence. Pretty much all games by Microsoft are written in C++. If you look it up you'll find that a ton of other big name games and popular commercial products are written in C++. Hell, even console games (Wii, Xbox, PS, etc) can be written in C++.

Normally, when a High-Quality production game is written, it is written in two-fold, first the developers make the Engine (Source, Gold Source, Unreal) based on whichever language they choose. They then write the game to work with their Engine (Basically, the Engine is its own language) in a format that their Engine understands.

Games(Mainly 3D games) work like this; The Game language is translated by the Engine to the language the developers wrote the Engine in or another language, The OS then translates the language from the Engine to a 3D processing software language (DirectX, OpenGL), The 3D processing language then spits out the result of all of this to your monitor.

So yes, you can create Runescape like games with C++/C/C#, or any other language for that matter if you have enough skill and knowledge of the library's that it will require...

 

Woah, last time I checked, I thought Google was made in Python.

 

Google mainly uses C++, Python, and Java.

Google Search = C++
Google Mail = Java

Everything else is any of the three or a combination of more than one of them.
