Why were you banned?

I'm sure most of you are aware there was recently a rather massive ban wave. I'm not looking to reinstate any of my accounts or help you reinstate yours, rather, I'd like to know why people were banned and perhaps a bit about your playing/botting habits.


I was banned on 6 accounts for fishing, 2 accounts for combat training. I was using a premium Tribot script for fishing and a free combat script for combat (a lite version of a premium script, appeared to work flawlessly).

8/8 accounts were permanently banned. I did not move gold or RWT of any kind on any of these accounts. 4/6 fishing and 2/2 combat were member accounts. None were "fresh" (all had creation dates of July 15th or before).

Interestingly, any accounts I did not bot in the past 24 hours were not banned. I have several accounts I botted a LOT more heavily and actually profited off of that escaped the ban wave, even with free scripts (ex: my 99 fletching progress thread)

Quite interesting. It's like Jagex basically knows who's botting 99% of the time and they just decide to ban people when they feel it's convenient.

 

I've botted 1-75 Fishing on my personal account without any breaks and I've yet to be banned.

I've been banned once in the past and that's because I ran a money making bot for 150 Hours without breaks and got banned around 147 hours in.

 

The accounts I listed were all 07, but if I'm not mistaken the most recent ban wave affected both games.

 

There are SO MANY factors which go into a ban (some of which are completely unknown to us).

The ban rate has been high for the past few months, nothing new is really happening right now.

I feel like you can collect all the stats you want, but there won't be too much of a trend or anything to them, best advice anyone can really give is to "bot as human-like as possible", here's a bunch of botting tips compiled together which will help reduce ban risk:

Banned for ~$200 worth of gold on a hosting account/mule in early 2013 for Games of Chance major. Appealed, was reviewed, was denied.

Banned for ~$200 worth of gold on a hosting account/pure in late summer 2013 for Games of Chance major. Never appealed

Banned for ~$600 worth of gold on a brand new mule I created on a VPN (my own fault) for RWT major in like November 2013. Appealed via email & through the site, no response

*2 week Temp* Banned for RWT minor on the account that traded the account that was banned with $600. Was reset for 800m eoc, the 25m 07 stack was untouched. (Never appealed)

~10 advertising bots on 07 banned in summer 2k14 using Tribot on a server

 

I was banned on my main. Maxed and 2b in the bank. Had a 10 year cape and had been a member for nearly the whole time. I botted for less than a day, and bam. 10 years gone.
