Or will Jagex just keep adding onto RS2?

 

most likely they are going to keep updating rs until its so stupid no one will play thus making rs3 ...

 

I wouldn't be surprised. Remember they want players because players= money. They will do what ever gets the most players.

What would warrant such a massive overhaul that they would re-release Runescape?

Runescape 2 came about mainly when they changed the entire graphics of the game. Very little was changed. IMO, it's not really Runescape 2 at all... It's just an updated form.

* getting ur level reset even if you play legit :L
*make another overpowered weapon
*another skill or something even more stupid then dung
* a gun or something idk they make strange items nowadays

 

Have you noticed how there trying to make it look so upto date with some of the stuff, when its ment to be an Old Game Play?

Guns I would quite Instantly.

You need Java to run RuneScape. Its a Java based game.

He is right, maybe some sort of runescape run off like an fps, there will have to be a revamp of the game sooner or later.

 

I always play RS from RS.com.... Or, of course, the nexus client.

Anyhow, I don't think they'll overhaul runescape to make it more like WoW. There were two significant updates that make it much closer to WoW... Constitution (damage is now 10x and closer to WoW damages) and Dungeoneering (raiding, amirite?). Tbh, The HP update doesn't matter, but Dung was just a crappy skill designed to hide a huge GP sinkhole.

 

the whole purpose of runescape was to not be on a client, so that more people could access their game, and that concept worked damn well. i mean sure, they COULD move onto a client that isn't of java and browser based, but to be honest i'd much rather have rune on console, not with shitty gameplay, but the game with enhanced graphics, better weapon looks, smoother animations, sexy armor/wep buffs [everybody likes shit that glows or drips or w/e the fuck you want ]

tldr;

rune for console = sexy upgrade w/ awesomeness.

 

They pretty much are working on RuneScape 3 as we speak. Well not really. JaGeX has a new project called Stellar Dawn, which was ment to come out by March 2009. Finally they've made progress since those ridiculous claims and have put up a website and have allowed users to apply for BETA testing.

 

It really is a big update update considering the amount of texturing was added.
HD+ Fullscreen, new updated quests and skills, new items and weapons.
Trade limits and the addition of PVP worlds + Bounty hunter.
New minigames such as Soulwars, Fist of Guthix + many more.
All new 3D models + graphical updates.
The grand exchange + merching
Achievement diaries.

There was definitely a large addition of things added / removed or changed.
You just have to think about the things other than the massive graphics update because really there was a big change that warranted a new version.

I know this wasn't all added from the start but they would have wanted to open a new world and take in suggestions from the community to build a more enjoyable game.

haha, stellar dawn won't be out for a very long time to come, they've owned the domain for a ridiculous amount of time, and to be honest its futuristic style looks tacky to me. instead of making stellar dawn, they should be putting graphic developers towards making runescape look more appealing to those that like their games to be graphically entertaining [rune is for gameplay, not gfx]

 

You know its been in production for over 4 years? They've got a website up (with forums) and it is prepared for release in early 2011.

 

If they did make a rs3 my name would be famous LOL
