Flag system

This was an idea I had when I was buying from a not so trustworthy community member but had no proof other than:

I know the moderators are well over worked as it is but this would help make the community that bit safer when purchasing from another player.

Basically when a player has an active 'Report a scammer' case open against their name maybe a small icon could appear like the TWC but no where near as permanant. Maybe like a red flag or something just to warn others that yes he does have an open case but hasn't been seen to do enough to warrent a ban or TWC.

Once that player in question has been found innocent/guilty they're always either TWC'd, banned or left to go on about their usual day on sythe with no consequence. Their 'flag' could be make Grey like the 'Ex-Moderator' title. This telling others that he has been found innocent but has been suspected of scamming in the past.

Of course they're pro's/con's to everything so here are the few I can think of at the minute.

Pros:
Players will be more aware of who they're dealing with.
Players will be able to trust users more.
It'll make trades on sythe easier for the more cautious community members.
This will stand in for anything that needs something doeing about but doesn't warrant a TWC/Ban. A slap on the wrist if you will.
These can be removed after 'x' period of time. Say a month with no more flags.

Cons:
It'll create more work for mods.
Trolls may get other members 'flagged' for no reason.
The dispute a ban section will have more spam in it.


At the minute I'm just brainstorming and spit-firing but I think could help others out a lot.

 

It sounds like a great idea but I can see this being abused way too much. One big thing that would have to be watched for is false accusations. I can see a lot of people doing that in order to get someone that pissed them off flagged.

Would be hard to implement, would be lots of work for mods, and it's really not that hard to search the persons name in the report a scammer forum.

 

Speaking from experience, user-powered systems like this just end up in organized bullying.
