Livehelp-- Offline Message

This is just a really quick and seemingly easy to implement suggestion.
When you click on the "LiveHelp" icon when it is offline, you get the following message:

I feel as though some text could be added to this to help point a member in the right direction even though there is no one on. This could include links and instructions to message moderators.

Example:

I realize that not many people would click on the offline button when it says in large red letters "Offline", but some people do. And I'm sure the benefit would outweigh the trouble.
etc., etc.
Any thoughts?

 

I agree with this 100%, as well as linking to the Sythe Support and Help & Request subsections.

 

Yea offline messages sounds good, that way your getting to more than just 1 staff member in the case of pming.

I was thinking this myself; very nice suggestion.

 

Very simple suggestion, don't know why it hasn't been thought of before, but nonetheless, I support.

 

Possibly instead of it saying livehelp maybe just put "online support" or something similar so people can still ask their questions even if they are offline, also possibly automating it would be a good idea with building off this messaging idea to get a concept of what people frequently ask. Such as a question like "I got scammed what do i do?" and putting links under it which link to the report a scammer and the required stickies to read.

 

I thought this worthy of a bump for attention.

Currently what happens when you click on it..

 

You have to reload the page then try again.

 

Refresh the page and then try clicking it again.

It shouldn't be too hard to edit the message with what syperz suggested, although only Richard, Matthew and Govind have admin access to Livehelp.

Perhaps those same links could also be included when LiveHelp IS available as well, while the chat box is loading and connecting you to a mod. That way when newer members open LiveChat, there is a chance it will answer their question or direct them to where they want to go immediately without having to connect with a mod to ask (assuming they have a question related to one of the links).

Yeah, that could answer some trivial questions. A link to the Sythe.org faq could be useful, as well.

 

how about sythe just gets somebody actually running the thing?

 

They can't run it 24/7, that's why this suggestion helps some users get their questions answered.
