Here is a picture of the Guitar Hero section for the BASIC FoF, the one that doesn't look much like GH3.
The descriptions under the names sums it up nicely, so I'll leave it at that.

Folder Guide!





Is the folder.
Note the colored circles and text in blue.

Data folder is the one I will go over most.
Go inside the Data folder.




Pay attention to the colors of lines and circles and text in the legend.

Inside the themes folder is nothing pretty much unless you want to edit and look at GH3 bitmap images.






So, songs folder is where we will be looking.




Again, it's described inside the picture.

Adding your own song!

Find the song you want in the forum for Tune Posting , and follow the pictures!

Click the download link, then

Now that you have selected your mod, applied it, now let's find a neck!

Go into options, then neck settings.

Song selection and organizing




Button preferences

The default buttons for MFH are fret is f1, fret two is f2, and etc to 5.
This can cause problems, since there is a gap in between fret 4 and 5, and there is a lot of 3 note chords
that are rendered impossible as keyboards can't register you hitting f5, f4, f3, and enter key at the same time.
I personally have numbers 1-5 underneath f1-f5, more three note chords are available, and no gap between fret's 4 and 5.
It is best for you yourself to play around and find what suits you.


Now, strumming buttons.
I use enter key and shift key under it, with ctrl for star power.
Many people find that bigger strum buttons are easier.
My friends all use insert and end for strumming, and delete for star power, again, play around to find what you like.



Good beginner songs

These are sometimes difficult to determine.
One song I found useful is the light that blinds.

Also a good song if you can find it is Hatredcoptor, by Dethklok.

Best solo practices

Chapter eleven - Advanced techniques



Advanced techniques I have no real screenies for, or links.
It's all done by description, which will be hard as hell, please bear with me.

First, doing solo's with tapping.
Tapping is using both hands to tap the noted that are HOPO's, hammer ons and pull offs, instead of using one hand to regularly hit the notes.

It is wise when practicing this to have extreme patience, or you may end up swinging a keyboard at a monitor. It is difficult, and not fun to practice,
but is fun when you get the hang of it.
If you are not using the keyboard you can elbow strum.
That is while your tapping, use your elbow to strum the strumbar instead of swinging your hand back down and back up quickly.
This is quite fun even when you suck at it.


Blindfolded playing/not looking at screen

This is epically fun.
The best way to show off.

My personal way to memorize the note patterns is to play on 400%(I'll explain next bit.)
It forces you to think about the notes quickly, and then move on to the next, and you aren't forced to keep on about one
note, you are forced to move straight onto the next one, this may seem different than what you would think
is best, but if you think of the same note to long, it will overlap in your mind with the next note,
causing epic fail a LOT of times when trying to memorize.







chapter twelve - Tips and Tricks


Here's some fun parts, Tips and Tricks.
For this part I will be using my GH: Aerosmith theme.



First off, go into Settings, or Options from main menu as learned above.




Now, scroll down with arrow keys to speed percent




This will change the fretboard speed, but not the song speed.
It spaces the notes out, though; so the frets are moving at 300% speed, but you still play the song as normal.
This will challenge you, and it very fun.
You can set to any interval of 10%, such as 310, 320, etc etc.

And set to yes.
You will now notice new in game stuff after you apply the settings.



I highlighted them.


There is much more, try finding settings on your own, it is much MUCH more valuable to you if you learn some stuff on your own.






Recording and making into a .gif!


You saw the gif at the top of my thread I assume, so let's say you want that for your songs.


First off: Needed Camtasia Studio 5.
This is the only way I do it, it gives best quality.
You can also use Hypercam to record.

All you have are Chapters 11 and 12? The abstract lights are confusing as well. This guide is very hard to follow.

My 8 year old nephew followed it...

 

I have the real Guitar Hero 3 on my computer. There was guide on that on Youtube. I'll have to dig that up though.

 

Yeah, This is actually better because you don't need huge ass RAM, a great graphics card, or a lot of memory, and you can make any song you want for it.

GH3 regular for comp pales in comparison.

Very detailed. I like how you added in the "How to make it into a .Gif". It was "out of the box" thinking =P. Since I'm not too experienced in rating, I'll rate it at 8/10.

Also, it's pretty easy for me to follow, not sure about others though. Great job.
