I. Rules and Regulations
As in most sports, Basketball has a lot of rules you must follow to play thegame correctly. Breaking these rules could result in a turnover which allows to have the other team to have the ball. In this section i will cover most of the basic rules and regulations of basketball. This rules are based on the National Basketball Association's (NBA) rules.

The Point of the Game
The Point of the game or objective is to score more points than your opponent in a 60 minute period of playing time.

Length of a Basketball Game
A NBA Basketball Game is about 60 minutes of playing. You play in 15 minute Periods and have a half time break after 30 minutes of playing.

Scoring
A basket made in a game is worth 2 points. A show made outside or on the 3 point line equals 3 points each. The 3 Point Line is an arc around a basketball hoop located further out of the Free-Throw Line. Free Throw shots equal 1 Point each. Free Throws will be discussed later.

Traveling
Traveling is a rule that is commonly broken for beginners. Traveling is when you run with the ball without dribbling it. This is against the rules.

Double Dribble
Double Dribble is quite simple. Double Dribbling is when a basketball player dribbles the ball and stops. Then continues to dribble the ball again. You only have 1 dribble, use it wisely. This rule is also broken when you dribble with 2 hands on the ball.

Back Court Rule
The Back Court Rule is when a player crosses the half-court line and goes back and crosses the line again. This is a turnover and the other team will receive the ball.

Out of Bounds
Most sports have this rule. This rules applies when a basketball player WITH the ball steps on or outside the out of bounds line.

3 Seconds in the Key
Offensive Players cannot stand or be in the "key" (refer to the picture above) for more than 3 seconds. This results in a change of possession.

24-Second Clock
24-Second Clock means that you have 24 seconds to shoot the basketball. If a shot does not a occur then it is a turnover. The clock is reset back to 24 once the basketball touches the rim of hoop.

Goal tending
A player cannot block or touch a basketball once its coming down from a shot. Also you cannot touch the basketball when the ball in on rim. A change of possession occurs if this rule is broken.

Personal Fouls & Technical Fouls
Personal Fouls are granted to a player when a basketball player has been too "Physical" with the person he is guarding. Hitting the hand or arm or even tripping a basketball player will result in a Personal Foul. After 6 Personal Fouls, the basketball player is Foul Out and cannot return to that current basketball game. Technical Fouls relate to verbal or inappropriate game play. In the NBA, a basketball player is fined for every technical foul granted. After 2 Technical Fouls a player is ejected from the game.

II. Positions
In basketball there are defensive and offensive positions. This labels a player on what their job is to do in the game. 2 Guards, 2 Forwards, and 1 Center is usually the normal set up for playing defense. Point Guard, or the ball carrier has the power to control the game with his passes and deliveries. Shooting guards main objective is to shoot and score. Small Forward is a bit bigger than the Shooting Guard, his job is to get rebounds and score. Power Forwards, are usually the strongest basketball players on the court. Their job is too defend and get rebounds. Centers are used to get rebounds and to protect the basket from their opponent trying to score.

Baron Davis: Point Guard
Kobe Bryant: Shooting Guard
Lebron James: Small Forward
Kevin Garnett: Power Forward/Center
Yao Ming: Center'

III. Offense!
SCORE SCORE SCORE! Offense consist of scoring the basketball. Making a layup, shooting a basketball, making free throws, and dunking are all ways to score in a basketball game. A good example of an Offensive Team are the Goldenstate Warriors. They had the highest points per game last year. Though, offense does not always win games.

IV. Defense!
DEFENSE DEFENSE DEFENSE! As you may have heard, good defense wins games. This theory has been proven a couple of times. Defense consist of stealing the ball, blocking a shot, and congesting a shooter before he shoots. Without Defense you're vulnerable to anything. A good example of a defensive team is the San Antonio Spurs.

Let me "re-write" my rating, due to some changes in rules User Educators must follow. Your guide has a great base, it is a bit short but guides are always different. You could have done a bit "neater" job by formatting and perhaps adding a bit more color. Overall it was a pretty decent job, I'm not a big fan on sports myself, but that won't effect to much of the rating.
