    For a parody project I'm working on I want to implement autotune (the gay ass shit kanye west uses) in the song. Is it possible to generate the metallic/robotic sound a vocoder/autotune can generate without using hardware?

    There are some downloadable filters. It all depends on what software you are using to record with.

    *I Am T-Pain

    To download i recommend Torrents there used by many people and you can find them almost anywhere on the internet also a good beginner studio is Mixcraft i can post a guide evantually but idk.
