    Introduction

I have observed that in many schools, in many countries, exam stress is in fact a dominant problem. Many are dawned by the fact that exams are just the next day, i have not even started on my revision, what do i do? This question can in fact be summarized into a single word, lazy. I am not saying that everyone is like that, but this word is realistic. I have gone through major exams in schools, and i realised that having to bear all the stress last minute is not very good. However, it is the day before the exams and you cannot rewind the clock. So, the second best thing you can do is to try and have a clear mind and try your very best in order to at least get a passing grade for the test.

    Causes
As for the causes, it can be split up into mainly 2 broad categories namely, a "cannot be bothered" attitude or an over self-esteem attitude. Most of the people facing exam stress most likely cannot be bothered with the test. Some may ask, why do i have to do the test? How can it help me when i already gone through all the lessons? It is no use, why bother? The answer is simple. Indeed you have gone through all the tests and such, however, to really prove that you understand all the concepts taught by you, exams have to be conducted. Some people are addicted to computer games or having early relationships that they have no time for their work. This is an excuse. Your occupation now is a student. Your job is to study not anything else. For the minority, they face exam stress due to over self-esteem. Over self esteem is defined as having too much confidence before the test and choose not to study it as you think you have already comprehended everything before the test. You might ask, if you already think you know everything about the test, why do you still face exam stress? Well, i was once over confident for a biology test, and i only got 65/100 for it. The part where you face exam stress is when you go to sleep. You suddenly think that you have forgotten something. Hence, these are the 2 main factors that give rise to exam stress.

    Effects
Effects are mainly the consequences. Firstly, you will not pass the test. If you do, you are quite intelligent or are consistent in your work. Secondly, your self-esteem might decrease, making you feel unwanted, lonely etc. Before the test, you might suffer from insomnia and this causes you to feel sleepy during the test hence you cannot concentrate. Lastly, the victims of extreme exam stress may consider hurting yourself or leaving home if the pressure is too much to bear. It happened to many people, i hear about this in the news, about exam stress and how it is impacting the daily lives of its victims.

    Solutions
There are mainly a few solutions, some may work for you, some may not. Firstly you can try last minute cramming in everything you can but at the same time, try to relax your mind time to time. This might not sound very useful but it help you to absorb knowledge better. Secondly, You might want to even avoid this by being consistent in your work. In doing so, you do not need to even suffer the consequences or worry about the exams the next day. Lastly, medication. Some vitamins might help, some phospholipid pills or even chicken essence to keep yourself awake during the exam. As for some people, the above methods might not work but maybe you like exercising, playing games etc to relief stress.

    Conclusion

In conclusion, i feel that being consistent in your work is better than actually having to suffer the consequences later on. You have totally nothing to lose as a student as your job and priority is to study. Discipline is a very important issue here if you want to play as much as you study. Plan a timetable and stick to it. Frequent changing of timetables will cause you to eventually give up on it. Hence, we should you should try your best not to end up in this situation but if you do, try to use the solutions listed above.
