What would the world be like without America?

The title pretty much says it all. I just had a long thought about this yesterday and I want to hear other peoples opinions. Personally, I think there wouldn't be so much murder and stuff yet many inventions would not be here now...

Hardly. The United States isn't quite the protector of peace, freedom, and liberty as its citizens seem to think.

Without the United States South and the Rest of North America would have a lot more recognition. For one, people who lived in the United States would have never commandeered the name 'Americans' and from this, anyone who resided in the Americas, would be called American.

That's one of the first beneficial things that comes to mind whenever I think about 'What would the world be like without America'.

What would the world be like without America?

I am American, and having traveled all through South and Central America, I realize how offensive it is when we monopolize the term. (the Spanish have a great noun for us, which doesnt translate well, Estadounidense, roughly translated as citizen of the US). Agreed on that.

It is funny to note that it is instantly apparent who here is American and who here is not. I think the US, disregarding the past 50 years, had done alot of good. All countries in existence have their shady elements. But i believe the US had a huge contribution in shaping the modern world.

On the flip side, over the past 50 years, the US has become a cesspool full of immorality, hypocrasy, and laziness. At times in my travels, I simply claim Italian hertiage, because being a US citizen ashames me when certain topics arise.

S overall they have done alot for the global good, but recently they have only contributed negatively.

However, if the US never existed, England's empire would have swallowed the globe, Hitler would have defeated England and France, the Spanish/French/English would have taken North America.

What would the world be like without America?

You know, your post does make me want to address the same thing as you. Leading up to ~the end of World War II the United States was a great country: we were technologically advanced, economically advanced (let's leave the Depression out of this one), and we had a great people, most of whom were fairly intelligent and moderately educated - yeah, yeah, yeah rural people; but, now, the United states is falling behind in all of these respects and it's because the people are smug. They think they're the best, and "without them the world would be one big ghetto" or something along the lines of Communists or Nazis running the world.

No to the first quote. The United States were a pivotal force in the development of the world, but it would not be a ghetto.

Nazis are bad, m'kay? But, why are Communists? This is a myth perpetuated by capitalists who would dread to see a system where everyone thrives - that is, if the communism would permit. There's a horrible problem with the United States, and it is misinformation, disinformation, and some of the most horrendous propaganda I've ever experienced.

History doesn't work this way. If one force is altered then you can't predict that out of England's empire expanding Hitler would ever come to exist, a very unlikely event in such a different time.

This is true and funny. Another trait to note is an excess of pride. Everyone who is easily noted as an American believes that, without their country, the world would be a wretched, horrid place. Typical American.

What would the world be like without America?

Each country has submitted something in the world culture,
May be without U.S. people would have gone to moon in 2069 not 1969,,
Anyway America is here from just 300 years,
Countries with very long history with more than a culture submitted more things to the world,
For example, If Egypt wasn't here.. people wouldn't know how to plant, Or to build..

    Without U.S. life wouldn't stop...
Without Long historic Countries.. Life would have stopped...

    I wish you understand me.

    True. =|

That might be true too, so.. Hmm, yeah. Wow man, this is actually a pretty good question. Without America, we wouldn't have that many wars today, I'm pretty sure.

What would the world be like without America?

Completely untrue. Egyptians arent the first to know how to plant/build. They just have the only obvious ability to do so as shown by what they left behind.

What would the world be like without America?

    Ughh..
    I am Egyptian,
I have studied all the pharonic Families,
I know about Egypt even more then all syther here, (Unless they studied egyptian history in college).
-Akhetaton, was the first one to plant the tree in the whole world, He was egyptian & he introduced this to Egyptians, I am pretty sure of this, I have studied it quite well.. Try googling it to check
-Saqqara -a 60 Meters high pyramid-, Is the first huge building in the whole world.
    Prove:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saqqara .
    Line 1: Pg.1:
"At Saqqara, the oldest complete hewn-stone building complex known in history was built"
(Note: Egypt has 110+ pyramid, NOT JUST 3!)

Don't Try to Say Lies & Fakes, Especially If You Know Nothing About My Own Country!

(Probably you would say, I know blah blah blah.....,
-If you were true, Will you tell me what is the color of the first king of Egypt?Or how many floors does that pyramid had?)

    Shame..

What would the world be like without America?

    'submitted', uhmm, ok?

On topic now, very good topic. All countries have done beneficial things to help our economy, and every country has done something negative to the living of us human beings. All countries have done something to contribute to poverty (except those countries that are below the poverty line) But I mean, the world would be the same without Canada, or Australia. But I guess it would be alot different, being the provider of alot of fabrics, and some other things that help. But America isn't as 'important' if you will, than you think.

What would the world be like without America?

    Hmm I dunno..

Why is it that we have accomplished more then most countries in 300 years then they have since the beginning of time?

Makes no sense. And without America, you probably wouldn't have half the shit you do now. Yeah sure, the inventor might have come from Germany or something but he created the finished product here.

And wasn't it the US who decided enough was enough in WW2?

I'm not being defensive, that's just my view

Meh, why do these kind of topics always boil down to a bash USA thread? I'm sure most of you have never even been here, so I have a hard time understanding how you can pretend to know us so well.

Everybody makes an example out of the US, like it's the only bad country in the world >_>. I can admit there are plenty of things wrong with my country, but can you honestly say your country doesn't do some things that you don't necessarily agree with?

I think you have got a Craze..

America DIDN'T Do anything to the world more than Egyptians, Romans, Arabs, Chinese,...
Please read any ebooks, or try googling it..
Plus America's people ARE ALREADY FROM EVERY WHERE IN THE WORLD!
America just grouped the best scientist from all the world to work for it!
Most of the scientist in America aren't Americans!
Also IF America Wasn't there, No Nuke would threaten our world, Also we wouldn't have heard of the Greenhouse effect until few centuries!
I don't say I hate America Totally or love it totally, It made bad things.. but maybe some good too..
