range tank staking question???

i have a question about range tank staking.

basically i need to know everything about staking as i know very little besides you need def and no prayer and high hp.

So my question is-
1-What stats should a good range tank staker have? i need the def and ranging lvls basically.
2-how do i train def? do i do quest or do i train it like i train str and attack?
3-what quest should i do to be a good staker?
4-what items do i use for tank range staking? like dragon e bolts or dark bow with dragon arrows or a mage short bow...
5-what should my rules be?

train defensive by magic/pc i say.

 

Depending on how high you want your defence to be, just train by doing some quests. MM gives you like 20k, Dragon Slayer (I think) is 30k, Fremmy Trials is another bit of exp. That should give you a nice boost. Perhaps even to level 40 YAY!!!

But, if you want a full blow tank (70 defence +) I suggest getting around 50 strength, 70 attack and a whip. i know if you've got 50 strength, 40 hp and 44 prayer, getting 70 attack will ownly raise your combat by 3 or higher than if you got 70 defence by PC'ing. Not a biggy. And it'll make it easier to train defence past 70 that way. Although, you'll hit pretty low. Maybe 11's

Anyway, good luck. i'm making a range tank too! only 40 defence for now, though. I'm contemplating on whether I should get it to 70 now or wait awhile.

 

k im only getting 40 def then ill get 70 later on but do u know how long it would take if i played like 2 hours a day?

Like I said, do Monkey Madness and Dragon Slayer. You should be well on your way to 40 defence, if not already there!

If you're not terribly far from it, just train using the 'longrange' method and you'll get there eventually.

Also, if you're planning on dueling quite a bit, get the stats (I think it's 50 defence and 50 strength) to wear full granite. It's got mad as range defence stats. And, I'm pretty sure, nice melee defence stats too.

P.S. Yes, it'll drop your range bonus right down but you'll still hit them. Something i can't say they'll be doing too often.
