Complete Overhaul of Xbox Account Stickies

The stickies that are currently in the Xbox Account section aren't that useful, relevant, or up-to-date.

Mohtasa's sticky, found here has the first paragraph stating "It is possible for users to contact XBOX support and receive full access to YOUR XBL account by means of username, date of birth, and email. Please be cautious about the kind of information you're giving over during a trade with any one user.". This is NOT the case unless you come across a braindead Microsoft agent. The only way you can get into an Xbox account is either through knowing prior passwords, having access to the alternate email (the login one WILL NOT WORK), or using blackhat jacking methods such as phone number redirects. Simply having the username, email and DOB to an account is not enough, I've got far more than that on many inactive OGs and they aren't easily accessible. In essence, the first paragraph is completely wrong. I have no idea about the second one, as I've never played GB before.

Video's sticky, found here could be added to the existing sticky for the Xbox section rules, as there is already a thread containing the rules - no need for a single thread for just a single extra rule.

Jack Goff's sticky found here is great except for the fact that MSP is now retired for the most part, and that it doesn't explain how spaced tags have come to exist, or the dangers in swapping a spaced tag, both of which reduce their value - unsuspecting buyers may not realise this.

None of the stickies feature any explanation on how to properly secure any Xbox account whatsoever, and none of them give any advice on common scams and how to avoid them. The stickies in that section need a complete rewrite to keep them up to date to reduce the scams that do occur.

Tell him to format it. It's a great big tl;dr at the moment, and the average user ignores the simple stickies, let alone the harder more detailed ones.

 

I'll work on the formatting tomorrow. I was in a rush to get the info out to people rather than pretty it up.

 

If you feel a sticky needs updated (Jack Goff) - then PM someone with perms with the updated version.

The reason video's has a separate thread is because most people ignore rules threads. If we have the rule as the title, it may be better recognised instantly, avoiding spam/locked threads.

As for Moh's, better safe than sorry I'd say - Microsoft own Skype and we've seen what happens there..

 

Scratch that, I've redone the formatting now, separated some into different sections, added a new, important sentence, and touched it all up a bit. This suggestion wasn't about my thread though, the stickies are still out-of-date.

 

Spruced it up with Raptor's help - let me know if there's anything anyone feels needs added/removed/changed.
