    will it work ? >_<
went a head and bought one last week not realizing there might be compatible issues, lol.
it came today, tried it, the monitor seems to recognize it but gets no signal.
tried literally everything and no luck D:

I think you're having some other issue, unrelated to the pci gen. Your pci gen 3 card should work in a pci gen 2 slot without any problems.

PCIe 3.0 is backwards compatible with 2.0.

i have one 6pin going into the card, and i'm using one of them 4pin - 6pin adapters for the other 6pin slot as it requires 2, could it possibly be that? >_<
as if i take the card out, everything is fine.
when i turn the computer on with the card in, everything seems as if it's fine though. =|

i thought so, thanks for the clarification. ^_^

Hmm you are taking video out of the graphics card, right? For example if you are using DVI make sure you are using DVI out on the graphics card, not the motherboard.

    yeah, i've tried both.
dvi and hdmi on the graphics card, neither work.
i'm getting mixed responses about the compatibility of the card and pci gen 2 motherboards D:
found a video on youtube, guy has same card, VTX3D Black Edition Radeon HD 7870, he took it too a shop apparently and ended up buying new motherboard. (might have been the shop trying to get more money out of the poor geezer though aha) >_<

Maybe you have to turn off the integrated video in your bios when you install your discrete graphics card so it will use the new card? I didn't have to do it for my setup, though. If you don't get an answer here I would definitely check out tomshardware forum, they have some smart people there.
