My thread's goal is to answer questions that ANYONE has about McDonald's. I have eight years experience under my belt, and am currently managing at a McDonald's that is the busiest in the region that I work in. I am well trained and can answer many questions. If you'd like to know, chances are I'll know. Feel free to ask anything, no matter how bad thee question is, even if it deals with something illegal

Q: Can I really order a McDouble with big mac sauce instead of ketchup and mustard, with sliced onions instead of diced?
A: Yes you can, but you may be charged extra for the Mac Sauce.

Q: Do I have to speak spanish to be an employee?
A: No you most certainly don't. It is a major part of the job though, sadly. You're more likely to be hired if you do speak spanish.

Q: What is the percentage of actual meat in the, well meat.
A: 100% Beef. It is pressure cooked, which is a little different than most places, that may explain part of the difference in taste.

Q:Will you get mad if I get a refill from a cup that was not purchased that day?
A: I'm currently dealing with this problem at my store. If caught, we will take action.

Q: Will you get mad if I get a refill from a cup I bought at another McDonalds?
A: For the most part, no. If we've noticed you brought the cup in with you with no purchase, we may force you to dump the contents, though.

Q: Why does it take so long to get my damn food?
A: From the time you order to receiving it, the food has gone through a minimum of 4 people's hands. Imagine the time it takes you to make a sandwich, and imagine having several other people in your way while doing it. That should explain it a little That doesn't even begin to let you know about the amount of orders, the amount of food, and other products that go into your order.

Q: Will you get mad if I get a refill out of a Taco Bell cup?
A: Most certainly. We don't encourage competitor's food/products in our store.

Q: Can I play in the playplace? (I'm 6 foot). If not will you kick me out?
A: You cannot, technically. For safety reasons (it has low weight limits) we would ask you to leave.

Q: Could a midget who is under 4 feet (but is like 40) play in the play place?
A: Most likely. They wouldn't cross the weight limits that the playplace has.

A: This will take a little bit of math to do.

Let a = max amount of items in an order
Let b = max # of items per item
Let c = Highest priced item

a = 18 i believe

c = (For ease, lets just say 50 piece nugget = $12 (close, but not exact)

18 x 99 x $12.00 = $21,384

IN THEORY you could order around $21,384 of food in a single order. We set a limit at around $100, in which we receive a HALO (means that manager verification is required, we may not allow the purchase.) Hope that answers it thoroughly

Q: Would you get mad if an insanely fat child broke a tunnel in the play place?
A: First, we'd be concerned for the child's safety and health. THEN we'd have to worry about repairs. Repairing the playplace wouldn't cost all that much so we most likely would not be angry. It wouldn't be the child's fault. The insurance we have for the building would cover the costs for repair.


Q: How are the working conditions at McDonalds?
A: Not quite what you'd expect. The working conditions are poor. We manage an average labor percentage of about 16. That means that 16% of our sales go to employee pay. An average job would go in upwards of 25% for their labor costs.

Q: Do the employees wash their hands for real?
A: Yes they do. For food-safety reasons we are required to wash our hands once per hour, after switching positions, and pretty much anything that involves unsanitary situations.

Q: Is the food sanitary?
A: The likelihood of you getting any sort of disease should the workers at your store follow procedures is slim to none. Yes, the food is sanitary. If you know the workers at your restaraunt and know that they will not follow procedures, then I can't say much for that.

Q: Saiyangohanz, did you attend college? If you're planning on getting higher up in management, isn't a degree required?
A: No level of college is required for McDonald's Management, at all. It would help to already have a degree if you wanted a management office job, but it is not required. You can work your way up through McDonald's, but it would take a while. I have not gone to college, but have received courses in Management training, which gives me college credit. Should you work your way up through the levels within a store to store manager, you will receive 65 college credits in business management. McDonald's management is very thorough. By the time you'd work your way up to the office jobs, you would have more than enough credits to get degrees.

Q: Do you hire teenagers? If yes, what is the chance of a 17 year old getting the job who only speaks English.
A: Teenagers are the majority of employees hired in at McDonald's. Teenagers typically learn faster and can deal with the stress and ongoing technological changes in stores. If you have never had a job though at this time, your chances of being hired in probably are low, due to a large increase in jobless applicants. English speaking only is fine in most areas. It doesn't hurt your chances of being hired in at all.

Tip: When applying at McDonald's do NOT go in at busy times of the day.

Steer clear of applying, or asking questions during the time-frames of 7-9, 11-2, and 4-7. These times are considered "lockdown." We do not appreciate applications during these times, and it WILL affect your chances of being hired. Hope this helps.

Q: What is the craziest thing that has happened to me at McDonald's?
A: An armed robbery, the robber got away with a few thousand dollars. We are located 2 blocks from the Sherrif's Department.

A: Currently $10.50/Hour. Working on classes Sept 14-17, will become salary and make even more after completion.

Q: How much is an Mcdonald restaurent?
A: More than you'll make in your life...just to build one costs upwards of 500K. Then you have to factor in the equipment and food costs. Consider our newest machine (the frappe machine) costs more than your house, and that's just one piece of equipment. There are many, many more pieces of equipment with equivalent costs.

A: We have several courses of actions we can take. Most McDonald's are equipped with security cameras. In the worst case scenario, we COULD call the cops, and with proper evidence could get you tagged for theft. With that you would receive some sort of probation. THE MOST WE WOULD POSSIBLY DO IN A NORMAL SCENARIO is force you to dump the contents, or make you pay

As for 333, don't care to answer racial questions. I can say that typically mexican workers agree to work for lower wages, and are more abundant in the food service field.

A: If caught, we can peg you for theft. We can take actions if we wanted involving police, but our policy is to just warn you or make you pay.

A: Yes you can, but a fee may be applied for the substitution (usually 15-30 cents)

Q: What is the minimum pay per hr?
A: $7.25 is the federal minimum wage, most employees start at your state (or federal) minimum wage, whichever happens to be lowest.

Q: Can I have a pizza party at mc donalds?
A: Most likely not. Most McDonald's do not allow food from any competitors in the store.

Q: Why do McDonald's that are located in tourist areas have no dollar menu?
A: Operation costs. Due to the lower frequency (I know it sounds odd, but tourist areas bring in less sales) of sales, there is little gain in money from the sale of dollar menu items. These McDonald's have to forgo the sales of dollar menu items to gain profit.
