    "Why Are We In Iraq"

In your opinion why are we in Iraq right now

In my opinion i think that we are in there because we are trying to make them a democracy and if we made them a democracy then other counties would say "i want to be a democracy".. So they would overrun their president like Iran and be one. Also we are in there to make sure people don't gather there and make more 9/11's.. And for all of you who say "We are in there for oil" why would oil cost 3.20$ if we were in there for oil?.. And For everyone who says.. "We were in there for wmd and it was bush's fault".. The supreme court voted to go into iraq. Hilary Clinton and Bill Clinton Voted twice to go into Iraq..So its not bush's fault.. And The wmd Might of been transfered to Seria.. So don't say that there wasn't any.

    "Why Are We In Iraq"

Bush thinks there is weapon of mass destruction and if Bush turns out it will be like a defeat, and everyone will probably attack USA.

EDIT:: I know the suprem court wanted to go to Iraq, but it's bush's fault for starting it.

Maybe there was no oil for America(or at least not as much oil) if americans wouldn't be there.

We are in there because Bush cannot admit that he was horribly wrong about the weapons of mass destruction.

Controlling the oil supply helps, also.

Anyone who thinks oil was at any point a leading motivation has no real clue about anything.
Currently, since Saddam is out of power and no WMDs have been found, th US is in Iraq to stabilize their government and battle terrorists. Yeah... it is that simple.
I love people who call Bush a moron yet insist there are underlying motivations for war which fulfill ingenious schemes. And many likewise think that he orchestrated the WTC attacks in some form.
If anything, that'd point towards genius.

I figured he admitted that when he reported that none were found... what else did you want exactly? That wasn't the sole reason we went in, otherwise we could've left immediately.
And who didn't think there were WMDs. Many still think they were transported out of Iraq. I do.

If Bush is so smart, why would he use a TRILLION dollar weapons and defense budget per annum to go into Iraq, a country where a dictatorship with Saddam was killing tens of thousands of people a year, while in African regions MILLIONS of people, many of them children, are starving to death due to corrupt leaders.

If oil did not play the major part, what did?

Yup, he did an awful job in Iraq. He fought the war all wrong. Although I think Africa is completely irrelevant as Iraq at least posed somewhat as a threat while any occupation of Africa would be 100% humanitarian.
And I never said he was smart, so why talk about it conditionally?
    Errmm... Iraq's ties to Al-Qaeda.

Iraq doesn't have as much ties to Al-Quada as other places. In fact, NONE of the 9/11 terrorists were from Iraq.

Even so, you add the other motivations with that: Iraq not complying with UN resolutions, and the other things I already mentioned (Saddam, WMDs, etc) then you have more reason than any place else.
And they may not have been from Iraq, but Iraq certainly has housed (and is housing) many.

omg, you are all indoctrinated (a.k.a. brainwashed) already by bush's propaganda.

Don't you get it? Why is bush still in Iraq? He wants the fucking oil! Iraq is filled with it and now they have no stable goverment (not that saddam was vey stable) he can easily get control of all resources in that country!

i think its because people feel the iraq is a breeding ground for terrorist that will someday attack u.s again like 9/11. they feel if iraq was a democratic country then there won't be as many terrorist there. making america safer. and therefore the world safer.

really think that we are there just like the first post said.... we are there to make the world a more democratic place.... and to stop saddam.. and also to make bush feel better for not catching Osama yet.. ( I really think that he's dead...) ut yeah... he needs a self esteem fix... he couldn't catch osama so he went after someone who he knew he could catch... Saddam.. and then once catching saddam he needed a reason.. he said oh.. he's a horrible dictator so we need that place to be a democracy.. therefore he had a reason to go in and fix his self esteem

    -->this is the truth...

You're brainwashed by the speculation of others based on absolutely no evidence. Not much better... -_-
That's your argument? They have oil, therefore Bush is there for it? Brilliant deduction!
The fact that they have no stable government is the fault of the Iraqis. They aren't willing to do what it take to have it. Just look at Tal Afar. It was talked about repeatedly by Bush about how it was a good example of the work that can be done there. So we removed most troops from the area to over places (over time). And this is an example of what happened:
    http://www.cnn.com/2007/WORLD/meast/04/02/iraq.main/index.html

And who's to say such things won't happen on a mass scale when we fully withdraw?
That's why we're still in there. Iraq would be in serious trouble if we left.

There were many people who did not believe that WMD's existed in Iraq.

What about the Downing Street Memo? It revealed that Bush was planning to invade Iraq before any news about WMD's was revealed.

    http://www.downingstreetmemo.com/

What about the Pentagon's recent admission that they twisted the Iraq data in an unethical manner to make Iraq seem like a bigger threat?

    Google it yourself.

Whoa anyone who says that we are still looking for weapons of mass destruction, need to get in the year 2007, we are not there for that. We are there to not create world war III. Think about it, their is a civil war in Iraq, the second we leave all hell breaks out causing other countries getting involved. The tension in the middle east is at a all time high (the atomic clock was even moved up a couple of minutes). We all know that when we have World war III, it will probably be the end of most life. We have so much weapons of mass destruction, i just hope it doesn't happen in my lifetime
