    Broken mousepad?

I recently bought a laptop computer, and straight out of the box, the trackpad on the mouse is dysfunctional. Often times, most of the center of the pad locks up, and thinks that there is a finger touching it already, so when I try to move the mouse around using the center of the pad, it starts scrolling and re-sizing the page. I have to resort to short strokes around the edges of the stupid pad in order to move the mouse anywhere and it's driving me nuts. I called the company and they said it was a factory defect with the entire model of the computer, and there's nothing they can do.

This leaves me with two options that I need help with.

First, I need to know if there's a cheap replacement trackpad that perhaps fits into my computer and isn't defective right out of the factory. The model of my computer is ASUS G series. I don't know anymore specifics right now, if it's necessary, I can find out.

Secondly, if that isn't possible, I need a suggestion for a good mouse, in the cheaper price range, wireless, and works well on different surfaces such as fabric when I'm laying in bed or carpet if I'm on the ground or my thigh if need be. It also must have a mouse wheel, but I believe most mouses these days do.. idk I've been using the same logitech corded mouse that I bought 4 or 5 years ago for my desktop, and before that, a 10-15 year old ball-mouse so I haven't looked around much....... which is why I'm asking because I don't know what brands/type of mouses are good enough to spend money on

Hmm, are you sure it's faulty? Or are the settings not adjusted to your standards? I know many good mice but they are wired mostly and I don't use wireless ones. If it is indeed faulty then you do have the right to send it back and ask for a replacement/exchange/repair/refund.

Well i looked it up, and it seems to be a pretty common problem.

Few things i did find: They are replaceable, however the only video i found on that looked pretty damn complicated and included him taking apart the entire computer. - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vdPa3iuLwOc&feature=related

Most videos however are fix's without replacing anything, such as this - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uGno-7jGzYQ&feature=related

Your best bet it to call your local tech store ( preferably not like a BestBuy, something more along the lines of Microcenter which focuses on computers ) and see what they can do. You'll get an estimate about how much it will cost this way, and more than likely they can fix it for you.

I too have a g series and have had trouble with my mousepad.. I just waited and it doesn't fuck up anymore.. You could get an external mouse also.
