Bot farm: many cheap laptops or fewer better laptops?

I'm thinking to invest about $3000 in a small gold farm, electricity, space and other logistics is not a problem.
And I want to know the most efficient balance of number of laptops/quality of specs that could make it possible to bot as many accounts as possible.
As in - is it more efficient to buy many cheap laptops or fewer more expensive laptops?

Or would you actually advice to use VPSes instead?

Dont go with labtops bro,
i would recommend getting vpses if your getting an labtop
or just buying a couple quality Pcs.
i currently have a labtop for botting and its shit,
i cant leave it on overnight or it overheats

 

How many botts are you looking to run?

I mean, if you can get a bunch of laptops that say...can run 5-10 bots, and MUST be able to keep them from overheating. then ide say buy laptops and getrdone but keeping them from overheating is a MUST!

If I was in your shoes I would start my farm off on a good VPS because it's a relatively small investment to get one (or a few). Personally, I think managing a bot farm through VPS's would be a pain in the ass compared to having multiple PCs setup, but if you're having success with a VPS you can easily purchase your own computers down the road.

If you do end up buying PCs I would definitely look at what's available used. You don't need top of the line machines, and if you do buy those you'll be paying a premium for the horsepower you get. There are a lot of people selling old computers at dirt cheap prices that can run a few copies of runescape. Laptops are especially cheap used as they can't be upgraded easily.

I've been botting on 3 laptops for half a year pretty much constantly, never overheated.

Another option I'm considering is a bunch of cheap PCs hooked up to a single monitor or two.

My main question was - Is it better (as in number of bots possible to run) to buy many cheap PCs or fewer better PCs?

My laptop (acer aspire 7738G) even overheats when i run 2 bots+browser lol..

 

Laptops are troublesome when it comes to botting, you'll be paying more trying to cool the systems than to buy a PC - that's why it's best to go with PC's with lots of RAM and a nice processor. You won't be paying for a graphics card you don't need and other things you don't need for Runescape botting. What size of bot farms are you looking to do? What bots will you be running? I would never recommened buying several VPS's, it's a hassle and has huge disadvantages (shared CPU for one!).

 

A vas for 30.90$ can run 3-6 bots and an 80$ vas can run 6-10. But the price s are each month, pluse script fees and mems your looking at about 150 give or take a few dollars each month for the 6-10 bot one

 

Get a KVM switch and run multiple desktop computers on a single monitor keyboard and mouse. Far more effecient than the laptop set up, and owning your own hardware is a far better investment than renting resources especially in the long run.

Laptops? They's die from all the work.

Buy a decent low quality desktop (64 Bit - EXTREMELY IMPORATNT) and buy plenty of RAM for it. Upgrade it yourself, save a ton of money, and run 6 or more bots at once.
My comp. has 12GB memory, and it can easily run 8 bots, if I have 3 clients open.
And I can still surf the internet and stuff, plus about 2gig spare.

 

Why 64bit?
I agree laptops are not the most optimal choice but please at least read what I have said - my 3 laptops are still fine after excessive botting 24/7.

 

So you can add more and more RAM, I have 16GB DDR3 installed here, running a 64-bit OS, if it was 32-bit, I would only be able to use around 3.5GB of that RAM.

 

But can someone tell me what is more cost-effective - having 2 cheaper PCs which can run let's say 5 bots each or having a more expensive PC which can run 10?

 

I would highly recommend investing in desktops rather then laptops.

If you're planning to spend around $3,000 then you should easily be able to purchase 2 quality PC's, if not 3.

Simply shop around, browse the internet and you'll have no problems.

However if there are only retails stores charging retails prices around your location, then I'm guessing 2 desktops would be your best bet.

 

I've decided to invest in used PCs or parts of them - mostly RAM. And make a setup of PC bot machines hooked up to a single monitor, keyboard and mouse for easy monitoring. All I need is an answer to my previous question.
