Bot Creators

I have a project that I want to do nothing spectacular or demanding. Id like to create a runescape 07 bot I plan for it to just be something to play around with in the beginning and if everything works out actually pay the developers out of my pocket to keep everything running. I don't necessarily have a budget for the project as a whole but I'm trying to see who would be interested in something of this nature. I don't mind paying for any programs, software or things needed for the project to begin or even develop.

Let me know if your interested like I said its just an idea that's up in the air that I have spare funds to go into.

From your original post I read that you do not want to do anything special with it, but this is exactly what you'd need to do, to get people to use your botting client.
It has to be different from other clients, in an innovative way. The main selling point with bots is detectability. This is what everyone's after - not to get detected by Jagex. If you manage that, users will come.
Otherwise, you are already dead before the release, because there are already established clients out there with tons of experience. No point going against them, unless you have something new and innovative to bring to the table.
I understand, just an idea But still, do not invest into this project. It will get VERY costly, as @Cam mentioned earlier. Especially, if you don't have any prior experience - do you?

And let's be honest. OSRS is not getting any younger (maybe gets a temporary pump from mobile release, but it will quickly fade).

Making a bot client for a dying game does not sound like a good investment, money and time wise.

 

Everybody's making remarks about how expensive the creation of a bot would be; I don't understand how. It will be expensive in terms of time, however I'd imagine it would be quite cheap to create one. Many IDE's are available gratis and if you're experienced enough, you won't be paying employment costs. Once the project's finished, start selling it on forums such as Sythe, build up money, purchase a domain and hire a web-host - no risk.

It would be a huge investment of time to develop, however to maintain, not so - you could make the software open-source to allow your community to contribute to ensure speedy releases of stable versions; this would also help build trust and transparency between your community and yourself.

It's about whether or not you're willing to put in the time.

Fast Coins is right for the most part, however if you are able to think of something innovative and worthwhile, I believe there would be demand (particularly focusing on RS3 - the reasons why the worlds are so empty is partially due to EOC, but also because a huge amount of the playerbase consisted of bots in 07-10 era).

If you have a revolutionary idea, feel free to contact me - I'm experienced in C, C#, F#, Python and Visual Basic.NET. If you do decide to come up with something, think of a bot that would exclude the traditional dependence on Java - injection, for RS3, is a no-go zone in my opinion. It would also be safer to stay away from Java in terms of legality too - if you think of something that doesn't require injection or any other traditional tactics, there will likely be no need for illegal deobfuscation of their packages.

The idea of open source - I love it @Minted ! Seeing something fresh would be awesome regarding botting clients.

Btw guys, we do have an opportunity to create non-injection based scripts with @Sythe 's multipurpose SytheLib ( SytheLib ). Syntax is easy to learn and there are some very neat functions included already.
Me and couple of other TC members are learning/ working on it right now. Afaik, anybody can join! We could make this into a botting client!
Right now, we need to implement some basic stuff: banking, inventory manipulation (working on it), walking, etc.
When we have the basics down, people could write more specific scripts.

However, @E3lite - if you do want to program a bot for your own financial gain, then I just wrote a reply to a question in the programming section that may help you out with embedding the official, unmodified version of the RuneScape client into your own bot application - from here, you could better govern the RuneScape client (if you have your form set to fixed dimensions) and manipulate it how you wish (intelligent playback of pre-recorded scripts?).
