Soo whats stopping J-Mods from...

So question... What is stopping J-mods from searching these forums for cheating threads and selling threads. Collecting up IP's from those types of thread and checking on accounts linked to those IP's.

Now sure there are those who VPN and hide/ mask their IP's. But what about the users who haven't learned how to properly protect themselves from Jagex searches.

Now of course there are those who are NEW to botting and or haven't maybe read threads on how to avoid that and bot safely. Maybe they are just ignorant or got excited and tunnel vision on botting. This will lead to bans of course.

Along with the question this is also a reminder. We all may not be related but sythe users should be family and make sure everyone around them bots safely and has each others backs.

 

Their anti-bot systems are pretty good at the moment so there is no need to lurk on Sythe to find botters. There are legit players though that browse through various cheating related RS sites, just to expose individuals that slip up.

Twitter and Reddit are filled with righteous players that go out of their way to expose botters and RWters. They are the ones that make J-Mods aware of specific players that may have shared too much in the open.

 

Nothing, in fact I am nearly 100% sure there is at least 1-2 J mods registered here along side 20+ player mods.

Well, 07 is comprised of 3-4 mods atm and I don't think they have the time to honestly.

As for EoC, I think that they allow the bot system to handle it rather than manually doing it.

 

I mean.. I really don't think they care that much. These guys are getting paid $50k+ / yr to develop and maintain a game, not search internet forums for rule breakers.

 

It's just an unethical way of banning people. Also it requires too much work.

 

Their job is to develop, not to hunt botters.
Part of their job is to develop a system to catch botters.


Also, i'm pretty sure that sythe's ToS states that any black market selling is under the user's responsibility, thus they can't force staff to give out the ips

 

correct 07 rs is composed of 3-4 mods "developers" but there are actually alot more people that are behind the scenes that you dont see. Like 1 J-mod OVERSEE'S banning there are more than just him. they feed the public limited information on purpose.

 

How do you propose that Jagex goes about "collecting up IP's"?

You can't just magically grab someone's IP via forums, in fact I don't think it's possible at all, unless you have a moderator account.

Makes more sense for them to just continue developing their anti-botting/bot-catching systems to do the work, as they are working very well.

 

so what stops them from getting your ip from skype or aim just getting your user name from the link?

 

That would be ridiculously tedious. Also as you stated above it'd stop us "once". And after that we'd just mask our IPs.

What sounds easier to you, an automated bot targeting system, or hiring people to manually go though forums, add them on Skype, and resolve their IP. (Also it's quite easy to mask your IP on Skype too)

 

I know the answer =P . This thread is to show new bots where they're safe and where they arn't.

Many different answers boat but they all lead to the same result. sythe users are protected for the most part. Btw you wanna buy that summoner no one else is offering and I don't feel like holding onto so many old accounts.

 

It is possible without having staff but it's so much work that it isn't worth it for them.

I mean, one can post an iplogger and cover it via shortening the url, but this would only track 1 person out of the thousands that visit these forums.
