    First Line Art

It has been a while since I have done anything in Photoshop (nearly two years) and decided to get back into Photoshop and starting out line art of a picture I drew a year ago. My future plans with this line art is to add colour and shades to it to make it look somewhat realistic. The line art took me a total of 12 hours. Here are the steps towards the line art.

    The original sketch.

Started with the feathers then moved on to the robotic part of the face.

The face was sort of out of proportion in the beginning so I decided to make it more of a circle on the robotic part then added all the facial details.

Added the robotic neck. I actually had to do this twice due to my computer shutting down on me while I was doing it and I forgot to save, so yay me.

Went ahead and added the feathers to the right side of the body then added the robotic left side with some details.

Added more body detail then added the shoulder of the robotic wing.

Added more body detail. Had to redo the shoulder of the robotic wing because it was kinda off because of my tweaking.

    Completed the robotic wing.

Added the feathered wing to the right side of the body. This came out much better than I expected.

Added the right robotic leg. I should have made this leg look more robotic by giving it sharper edges.

Added the real chicken left leg.

The final product. I missed some screws from the body so I added those.

I'm currently trying to add the colour to the entire picture. Will take some time since I'm not very good at shading and such in Photoshop.

Update: Finally completed the colour version of it.

He Already Stated that he will. Try reading his post first maybe?

And On-Topic, how hard is it to incorporate realistic shadowing and 3d form into line-art on Photoshop?

It is quite easy if you know what you're doing. Unfortunately I have never done it before so I am kinda clueless on how to do it. Right now I'm basically doing it by trial and error, using the knowledge I already have.

Honestly, that's a great and deceptive piece. I'm glad you've shown it step by step. It's a great piece. I would love to learn line art eventually one day. It's like an old cartoon sig. Please attempt this style more, as it's a great variety that could be spread to this forum.

I'm still working on the kinks of it. I recently made a new line art but it did not come out the way that I expected it so I decided not to upload it and post it. Don't get me wrong, it still looks good but I don't believe it is presentable.

I would love to make a background for it and add it in but for some odd reason my scanner is not scanning to my laptop so even if I were to draw a background to lineart, I'll be unable to get it onto the laptop.

This is sick. I think the left leg would look pretty neat if it was like a metal leg. This is impressive. Once I get my hands on one of the updated programs I will be comming to you for some tips. I dont have 400-800$ for a legit copy. Sooo if anyone could help me out with this issue. Could give 50m RSGP. Doesent equal up but hey, your helping somebody out. :)
