Should all murderers get the death penalty?

    I believe so.

It would save us a lot of money, (not having to prosecute them, jail, food, ect).

No matter how innocent they seem, they should get the death penalty, AS LONG as their is enough evidence to be 100% sure it was them (or, make it they get killed if they confess).

    Discuss.

Should all murderers get the death penalty?

Well. i don't think they should IMMEDIATELY get the death penalty until they have had a full proper trial. Some murders should have the death penalty though i believe so. But some use the "Im insane thats why i did it." Excuse. E.G. Martin Bryant Murdered over 30 men, Wemen and children at Port Arthor Tasmania, Australia. Then claimed he was insane so now he is in an insane asylum for life.

Should all murderers get the death penalty?

    50% yes and 50% no

reason for yes: yes they murdered someone ending someones life for nothing
reason for no: it could be for the better reason like...a daughter and mother helpless the husband has a knife and is gonna kill them she would grab the gun on the table and kill him

Them being insane is a different story, I guess.

I'm excluding the insane people, especially war veterans who have gone crazy.

Those people should be in a secured, peaceful environment, where they can do no harm, but they aren't treated like criminals. For example, They get to have TV's, Game systems if they want, and not sleeping on a metal bed, But yet security guards are everywhere.

Depends on the situation really. If the murderer really regrets doing it etc he should be able to be rehablitied and given another chance. Serial murderers, murderers with intent and no remorse, and physco murderers should be given the death penalty.

In a legal act of self-defense, you may only do as much damage to the person as they do to you within reason. Leastways that's the law where I live.

I really have to disagree with this, I know they have taken someones life and I get where people are coming from saying that there life deserves to be taken. If you think about it, we would be doing the same as they had, taking lives. They deserve to be punished, but not so heavily.

I think in a court of law, if someone had a weapon that could do damage (baseball bat, gun, knife, rope, etc), one could reasonably argue that one's life was in danger.

P.S. To answer the question, no they shouldn't. There are plenty examples of people who were convicted and executed only to find out later said person was innocent. There are also examples of people brain washing people into confessing for crimes they never committed. These people often suffer from retardation, so they are more open to suggestion. They actually begin to think they are guilty for crimes they never committed. Again, these people were executed only to have DNA evidence show that they DIDN'T commit the crime later. Capital punishment isn't a horrible idea in theory, but it's full of flaws in practice.

Oh, and the racism it allows... Minorities get the death penalty more than whites do when you adjust for all variables. Blacks often come from poverty, so they can't afford the same lawyer who could sweet talk Mr. White out of capital punishment. Look into it.

I say half yes and half no. Say someone who got framed for murdering. He didn't do it and doesn't deserve to die for no reason...For the murderers, when they are free from jail and commits another murder, then yes, they should get the death penalty.

    But that's my opinion =]

Should all murderers get the death penalty?

This is a topic that has been debated for quite awhile, and as one can tell by the difference in laws in each state, no one has really come to a consensus on what is right and what is wrong. Now I myself am not a devote Christian, so don't be going and calling me a bible thumper or anything. The people who founded this country were Christians, and the laws governing us are based upon Christian principles for the most part. They aren't perfect, but they are better than some of the alternatives. It states in the bible under the Ten Commandments, thou shalt not kill. This means no exceptions. No one is given the right by God to kill a human being. The death penalty is barbaric. We should be treating all people with compassion. The victims families should be helped and the murderer should get life in prison in most cases, but should be allowed to live a full life. He should be given therapy and the opportunity to better himself while imprisoned and also have the opportunity to give back to the community with some kind of very restricted community service. Could be in the prison or picking trash on the side of a highway while in chains.

This is what I would say as well. If they really regretted it, they should get mental treatment, etc. If they were serial killers or showed no remorse, as WIlson said, they deserve death penalty.

Sorry if I just pretty much copied what Wilson said, but it's what I think as well.

Should all murderers get the death penalty?

So you're saying, "oh let's wait until they kill another person before deciding if they should get the death penalty."

That's very dumb. Wouldn't you lock them up the first time?

I don't think so. Heres a way I see it, how could you execute the murderer? Injection? Thats murdering someone. Electric chair? Murdering someone again. Firing range? Again, murder. Either way, someone is killing someone, and someone else has to kill them, it's like a cycle. Everyone would die.

Also, you can't always be 100% sure they are guilty. New evidence could be found years later which could disprove the original verdict. This would result in an unneeded death. There are too many possible loopholes/ways this wont work.

I don't think they should get the death penalty.

Should all murderers get the death penalty?

I don't even read the posts or your thread, but what i'm going to say is "NO". Because all murderers might kill ppl or two or even more, but i think some of them deserve a chance of not being put in jail, death penalty etc. Friend of myne is in jail for murder, i known him from like 6 years and now im 22. Believe me, he would never do such a thing, he was very drunk when he did it. He obviously didn't know what he was doing....

An eye for an eye only makes the whole world blind.

Just send em to siberia naked, and if they make it out alive then they can walk amongst the world again.

Well I'd say nobody deserves the death sentence. Instead of killing someone, just send them to some serious jail time.

Like people say, people eventually learn. Jail is the place to teach.

That's actually not very dumb, I think he mean's they get locked up the first time and after they are let out if they commit another crime/murder then the Death Penalty would be suitable. I don't agree with it as it just stuns me how you would take someones life that has taken someone elses, noone deserves to die.

I say no for purely economic reasons.
With all the appeals you can possibly make, and the level of evidence needed costs a fortune - far more than life in jail.

Well technically speaking, since it is the idea of the thread, if all murderers are forced to be executed there is no need for appeals and further evidence if he already has pleaded guilty.
