Western Union is so awkward to use.

Today I used western union to sell 500$ worth of rsgp. I received the $$$, it all went good but the cashier insisted I tell her what I sold to china for 500$, otherwise the order would be cancelled if I didn't tell her. Here's the awkward part. There were like 10 people in line all within earshot. I told her ''I sell virtual goods.'' She's like what kind? I said ''Game money...'' She then proceeded to give me the weirdest look and said ''What? people pay 500$ for video game money?'' Which I replied ''yes.'' This was my first ever time using w/u, and it was a... weird first impression. Is this policy new where they demand to know what you sell? have any of you got similar stories?

 

They've never asked me what it was for before But why so embarrassed?

 

They have done the same to me multiple times. Especially if you're sending or receiving money from another country. You actually don't have to tell them what it's for, I always just ask for a supervisor when they ask questions.

 

I guess it's because it is my first time selling rsgp for a huge amount of cash, and it just felt weird saying super loud ''I sell video game money for high rate of real life money'' with 10 people breathing down your neck while I got the look of weirdness from the old cashier lol

 

They can't ask that, much less demand it, super unprofessional. Should have asked to speak with their manager.

 

I've only ever used it once, and never asked me a single question; maybe gave me a funny look but didn't ask me anything

 

Lol. Back in 2011 or 2012 I used WU so much that the agent near where I lived refused to service me any more. So I had to go to another agent that's 30mins away. But they provide online service via my bank now so it's super easy and no questions asked.

I always did wonder how people dealt with picking up WU orders.

I've only ever sent, not received.

 

Used WU multiple times and had never been asked about the money. What the cashier did seemed out of curiosity though can be seen as unprofessional at is not his/her business to know.

 

Haha, my problem is I'm under 18 so I've gotten my mom to pick them up for me. Considering she was pretty uncomfortable doing it and thought it was illegal I hope she never gets questioned haha.

Dude. Don't be embarassed. All hobbies seem weird if you're not doing them or you haven't experienced it yet.

Why answer? I'd just say "none of your business".

 

You don't need to be 18 to pick up just send.

 

Western union is used for sending and receiving money. And that's it. Remind them of that and tell them you are either sending or receiving money.

 

one time i sent $300usd to china for fake ids the guy asked me why i just told him i was buying cheap plastic from china they cannot demand you to tell them what you are buying fyi.

 

Next time when she/he (the agent) is so suprised and asking that questions just tell her/him that's not his business.
Sometimes they play smart and ask that question because they need to release the payment.
*That kind of questions they do only when you reach 20,30k received funds (deneds on your country).
And still WU is the best way to receive cash because its fast,easy and not reversable
