Mods bumping a thread to inform of 8 hour bump rule

Hey just think there should be some other sort of way to inform people that there is an 8 hour bump rule besides telling them on the thread. This only bumps the thread again and seems very contradicting to me.

Some people I don't think are understanding what I am saying. So let's say I have bumped to many time in 8 hours right? Well, currently a mod will POST on my thread telling me this. But this gives me ANOTHER free bump. There is no need for a mod to post on my thread telling me I am excessively bumping because then they just bumped my thread again for me.

Example (Superman, not trying to call you out either!): http://www.sythe.org/showthread.php?p=10595251#post10595251
Over 45 minutes have past without a bump and then Superman notices he has excessive bumping so warns him but even though he just did a bump 45 minutes ago he still gets ANOTHER bump because of superman posting and telling him he has bumped to many times

Writing it on the thread is probably the best place to be honest. Some people get loads on PM's and might miss it. But if you're consistently bumping your thread because no-one else had posted on it, you will see the mod's post ;)

Mods should issue an infraction and leave an infraction note. Adding in a post is completely pointless, since no other mods will know about the warning if he continues to excessively bump a new thread.

He was infracted. Mods are allowed to post on the threads.

Excessive bumping can only be done by OP so it doesnt matter if a mod posts or not, its that simple.

I understand that the excessive bumping can only be done by the OP but the whole point of warning them is becuase they are excessive bumping and all this does is give them another free bump on top of the ones they have done themselves

This suggestion is pointless. If kids would just read the rules and know the bumping rules, this wouldn't be an issue at all. And mods usually delete your excess bumps so it doesn't stack on.

Is no one understanding what I am saying. MODS are posting on a thread saying that you are excessive bumping. This in essence GIVES the person excessively bumping a free bump...

You can say its a tradeoff, infraction for 1 bump which the user probably wouldn't be happy with. The user most likely learned his lesson, if not and he purposely wants these mod bumps he will get infracted and eventually banned. Just let it slide lol, it is probably more convenient for the mod to post.

Actually it's better that they leave a warning on the thread. This way the op knows he received an infraction and the public do too - so you guys won't double report it.
