Notification for banned users

Hello Sythe community,

I'm not sure if it's entirely possible, but I wanted to recommend that if a user is officially banned that users whom are able to trade within the market receive a notification, with reason being:

As someone who has navigated around Sythe quite a bit, I'm sure it could put users at unease to be scammed and find out user has already been reported several times, and I don't think individuals would want to be bothered with having to check the RAS thread, or the archives constantly to ensure people they interact with occasionally, seldomly, have not already scammed other users. If people were to receive notifications of an individual being banned, whether or not the notification links them to the thread or just informs them, it can assist members keeping their Skype's/Discord's free of scammers.

Several times I have witnessed individuals be scammed and were ignorant of a user scam-quitting or already have been reported. Again, redundantly speaking I believe this could only help users.

 

I like this idea and sorta support it, obviously there'd be a toggle option to get the notifications or not. But on the other hand, I think it could just be a bunch of spam. Maybe there there could be some sort of list that you could ctrl+f and find a name or something, I get that RAS and RAS archive would sorta be that list, but the peoples usernames aren't always in the title clearly. But I overall support this.

Even if DNT is added there is a window of time between providing evidence that could leave scammers open to scamming multiple users without knowledge!

There are many games that shame users to all players when they get banned, and wouldn't mind seeing a thread with banned or reported users of the day listed.

What would be really awesome is to see a PM bot that can message you if a user you have talked to via PM in the last 24 hours has been banned. I know it's far fetched, but would be a cool/niche feature

 

Taking into account ban evaders (they get banned all the time), this would cause a HUGE storm of notifications. So much so that you would have a hard time noticing or finding a name that your looking for. Just use safe trading practices. No system will prevent every scam and I can't see this helping at all.

 

But when you do the cost-benefit analysis everything already sort of outweighs itself. Again as a I mentioned before, nobody is always going to check the RAS thread or archives to see who's been scamming, especially considering guys like me who never deletes people after transactions are made which seems like the vast majority of people. This system isn't to prevent scamming necessarily, but more-so chain scamming.

Please explain to me why you believe my proposal wouldn't help at all? If this system implementation would not "help" then what would it do? Hurt, hinder, inconvenience?

I believe everyone should start with it toggled on, and toggle it off by their own choice. Savvy people are going to do their research and trade every transaction, but these are the minority. A healthy handful, from my personal experience will not follow all of the safe trading guidelines and this method (redundantly) in my OPINION could only assist others.

Sad to see I've gotten no engagement on this, let alone from any of the staff members whether people support this or not.

 

i would at least maybe like a thread that shows all banned users in the past 24 hours, with the thread locked. After 24 hours, they get sent to the archives. The username should be present in the title of the post like this: "Eazy E" (Scamming $"x"), with a link to the thread of which it was reported.

this would get rid of the need to add a notifications, but also allow for Ctr+F to search for users because their name is in the title. This will also publically humiliate users who scam, hopefully stopping others.

 

That's the trader's fault for not making sure they do their due diligence before engaging in a trade. Bans are being placed so frequently that having this feature would surely turn away potential newcomers wanting to use the site. I'm sure this would be unneeded work for Richard and Matthew. All traders should always check a person's profile, credibility, and vouches before trading. Simple as that.
