Why does the sound stop working when I plug my headphones all the way in?

It works if I plug it about halfway for some odd reason, help would be greatly appreciated.

 

Probably your connection is bad, could be the grounding wire/left or right wire not making full contact upon plugging it in but making partial contact when its halfway plugged in.

Your headphones are broken, I recommend just finding any old pair of headphones, cutting off the 3.5mm jack and soldering/replacing your current one with it. Should fix your problem.

 

Thank you, but I'm afraid i'd just ruin them by trying to replace.

Also, they have always worked fine until today.

 

You could and get another headphones and plug it in. From there you could see if your headphones are having problems or the jack.

 

There is a damaged connection somewhere. It's probably best to try another pair of headphones first to see if that works. If not, open up that shit and see i you can see anything obvious.
