Who should I save for?

I'm quite new to League of Legends (under level 20) and would like some help from you guys about which champion I should buy

Currently, I play Jungle with Nocturne the majority of games, and really enjoy myself, rarely finishing negatively. Before that, I played a lot with Jax, and a little with Karthus.

I decided that I needed to purchase a top-laner (for when those damn insta-lockers take jungle) that I can learn, although I guess a mid/ADC would be just as useful whilst I try to find champions for each role ^_^ After playing against a few, I quite liked the looks of:

Jarvan IV
Vladimir
Pantheon
Varus (Although not as a top laner)
Akali (Same as above)
Vayne - As suggested by Haurro

Anybody able to help me out with some of the pro's and con's of each? As well as how fun they are to play? Also, any other champion suggestions (with reasoning) is certainly welcomed

 

If you like playing jungler but you also want a top/mid laner you could think about:
Jarvan IV (Top/Jungle, stronger in the jungle) - might fit you very good, because he stick on the enemy as Nocturne and he has 2 dash abilities (Nocturne has only 1)
Lee sin (Top/Jungle)
Udyr (Top/Jungle)
Cho'Gath (Top/Jungle/Mid)
Kha'Zix (Top/Jungle/Mid)

Vlad is also good, he's viable as a top laner (it's good to start Ghost/Flash if you're new) and mid laner.

If you feel condifent you can buy Vayne, she's really strong but she needs a lot of practice. She's mostly played as an ADC at the bottom lane but you can take her at the top lane too.

 

Hmm just had a look at Vayne, must admit that I'm very interested ^_^ I enjoy playing Noc because of his reliance on auto-attacks, so Vayne would certainly fit into that style of play.... Think you've definitely added another name to my list

 

Jarvin for sure man he so tanky.

 

I'd recommend J4 out of that list because he's viable in both the jungle and top lane.

 

Must admit, I'm certainly torn between Jarvan / Vayne currently.... Although Vladimir is a close third.

Not too fussed by Jarvan's ability to jungle, Nocturne is my main jungler so I wouldn't pick Jarvan to jungle ordinarily.

Any other opinions? Who is the most fun to play?

 

Jarvan IV - Very good tank + Team champ. Strongly suggest having.
Vladimir - He's a great tank + decent damage champion.
Pantheon - Would get him just because he's only 3150 and he can make some great plays.
Varus (Although I don't think he's a top laner) - He's an ADC, would not suggest this one as a top laner.
Akali (Same as above) - Can top lane just find. A good but squishy burst champ.
Vayne - As suggested by Haurro - ADC as Varus.

The only ADC's I'd suggest for top lane are Trist/Ezreal.

 

Must admit I'm surprised by the support for Jarvan, I've rarely seen anybody play him on LoL, didn't realise he was this popular

 

If you can play him right, he's great. But he can also make you lose team fights. (Happened several times to me)

 

I consider J4 as a jungler, and prefer to see Pantheon mid (although he is very strong top with his Q-poke).

I would recommend buying Vlad for top lane. He has great damage, tankiness, and can sustain in lane much longer in lane than other champions if played/built right (spell vamp OP).

He can deal incredible amounts of damage to enemy teams if fed early on.

Try him out. I think you'll like him.

 

But be aware of Vlad's weak early game. That's the moment when your 1 mistake can make your early/mid game a pain. Vlad is getting much stronger after lvl 7+ because it's almost impossible to force him to go b and you can freely poke your enemies with Q.

Remember that each champion is good with different teams. When you need champion with more than 1 dash to catch enemy Jarvan is much better than Nocturne. Also Jarvan's ult can stop enemies without escape mechanism so it's awesome to isolate enemies from your team and let them freely hit enemies. That means that sometimes Jarvan might be better for your team and you'll need to leave Nocturne for a while

Pantheon is quite easy champ to master but he can be easily shut down if he gets cc'd (opposite to Jarvan who can jump and jump and jump).

In my opinion Tristana isn't as good at the top lane as Vayne. Maybe she can poke, she has jump to run away but she does not have killing potential to kill bruiser at the top lane. Vayne can do that. Also Vayne scales much better during late game and top lane is more passive than bot lane. It means that Vayne can get farmed, sometimes get some kills and after 20 minutes she becomes a threat (at the bottom lane she can get stomped quite easily).

They're both really good if you know how to use them but if you know how to you'll be owning

 

Vayne is one of my absolute favourite ADCs.
Although her early game is a little weak, her late game is hyper carry for days.

I can't exactly tell you about Jarvan cause I myself don't have him, but I can tell you that his cataclysm shit is annoying.
