Introduction

What are strength pures?
Strength Pures are essentially players with high levels on specific skills (in this case, strength) while managing to obtain a low combat level. For example, a player with 99 strength and another player with 35 strength, 35 attack and 35 defence will have similar combat levels.

What are the point of strength pures?
Strength Pures allow users to kill similarly levelled players easier without wasting combat levels on insignificant skills. For example*, a player with 99 strength can hit up to 112 while a player with 35 strength (and 35 attack & defence) can only hit up to 48. This makes damaging players quicker and more efficient.

*These figures were calculated using Tip.It with no strength bonuses.

Levels

- Uses of Strength

Strength is most notably useful to increase your maximum hit thus increasing the amount of damage you deal in combat. If you ever decide to buy membership, it can also be used to catch certain fishes in barbarian fishing and pass certain shortcuts using agility.


Fishing
Catching sharks bare-handed requires a strength level of 76.


Agility
Using the Catherby Cliff shortcut requires a strength level of 35.

- Levelling Up Strength


Before attacking anyone, always make sure you have changed your attack style to aggressive!



Levelling up any melee skill is simple - click on your chosen attack style which in this case is AGGRESIVE then simply attack any enemy that you want.

- Levelling Up Attack?

Most strength pures decide to train their attack to a certain level to allow them to hit more accurately and frequently and use better weapons.
Here are a couple of guidelines that you may want to take in consideration whilst training your attack.

1 Attack (requires 60 strength) - Tzhaar-Ket-Om/Obsidian Maul

Some pures decide not to train their attack at all but invest their time in achieving 60 strength. Although this may have its advantages at the end, it is also a lengthy process as your character will hit 0's more frequently.

5 Attack - Steel Weapons

On my first pure, I trained my attack to 5 then got from 1-40 strength. I found it efficient enough to PK and train while keeping my combat level low enough rather than training up to rune and earning about 10 combat levels in the process.

10-30 Attack - Black/Mithril/Adamantite Weapons

If you do wish to train your attack then take it all the way to rune. Follow these guidelines:

. 10 att/10 str
. 20 att/15 or 20 str
. 30 att/20 or 30 str
. 40 att/30 or 40 str
. 40 att/60 str+

40 Attack - Rune Weapons

Many pures take it to rune and never train their attack again as rune weapons are single-handedly the best non-degradable weapons for f2p.

45 Attack - Gravite Weapons

Gravite Weapons are arguably the strongest weapons on f2p but there are at least two disadvantages to it. Although you can wield the weapons at 45 dungeoneering, to earn the amount of tokens needed to buy the weapons, you must have at least 64 dungeoneering. The weapons also degrade after 10 hour of continuous combat and require 1,000,000gp to restore it to working condition.

- Should I level up my defence?

No. As they say, 'offense is the best defense'.
The faster you kill someone, the less damage they will deal to you.
This will also keep your combat level as low as it can be.

- Constitution

Your constitution will level up around every 4-5 str/att levels which in time will affect your combat level. Many players hate the fact so they train their combat skills with Soul Wars [MEMBERS] to avoid the advance of their constitution level. However, since f2p players can not play Soul Wars, they have no option but to accept the consitution levels. It has its advantages as players will need land to more successful hits in order for you to die.

Starting Off

- Names
Make an account filling in the appropiate details until you can enter your desired name.


Names are important for a pure - you want something that will not give your game away.

Unless you really want to, you should NOT use names such as 'Str Pker' or 'Str99' as it will intimidate players to check your hi-scores. They may refuse to fight you in the wilderness and participate in staked duels.

Although not recommended, you may use random numbers and letters such as 'X_d1N0s4ur432' or 'coolbabe321x' in order to make you look like a complete amateur. This may get you more fights and duels.

The names that I do recommend are rare names that will make you look experienced without giving too much away. Something like 'Death' or 'Midnight' will look good - you can easily pick up a good name from the Runescape Markets on Sythe for as little as 500k or 1M. Click here.

- Unstable Foundations

Before starting your pure, you will need to complete the tutorial - -Unstable Foundations. I will not go into further detail as everyone should know about this. In cases that you don't, please check this or this.

Training

Before starting off, you need to know what you want to become and stick with it. In this guide, we will be training our attack to 40.

- Money Making

After finishing Unstable Foundations, you will find yourself in Lumbridge with no money and either Level 3 Mining & Woodcutting. Since you are a low level, items are generally cheap - full iron armour set, an iron scimitar, an iron 2h and a strength amulet will cost no more than 4000gp. You can easily obtain all of this by picking up an inventory of cowhide at the Lumbridge Cow Field. Cowhides at the time of writing costs 191gp, meaning an inventory of 28 will get you 5348gp, more than enough to fund for the necessary items. With the leftover cash, you should buy yourself food to restore your lifepoints. At your level, you won't be needing tunas or lobsters just yet - buy around 100 trouts (heals 70lp) or 150 herrings (heals 50lp).
*If you are still Level 3, I recommend that you do not attack the cows but take the drops left by those who do not want it.



As an alternative, you can use the skill you chose to train on Unstable Foundations in order to earn you some money. Chop logs or mine ores until you can fund for necessary items. One more option is to pick ashes that are left from firemaking around the Grand Exchange - each sells for 138gp so an entire inventory will gather you 3846gp. You may need to decrease the price by 5% in order for it to sell.

- Levels 1-20

Start off by making money by using one of our methods or using your own. Use this to buy the appropiate equipment and inventory:

Level 14 scorpions in Dwarven mine underneath fally. They're never crowded and they have low defence, but you will need to bring an adequate amount of food and level 25+ CB is recommended.

Very well written, simple and easy to read. One of the best guides I have read in a long time (not to copy above person btw...). Please continue on writing this! I made a STR Pure two days ago when I first read this and just didn't get the time to say how good it was. It's currently Att 1, Str 45, Def 1. I will most likely keep Att at 1 unless I am getting defeated way too often.

Once again, Great Guide! Please continue writing it. Many people would greatly appreciate it.
