Best hero from each class and why?

If you had to choose to only play 1 champ from each class, no matter the scenario, who would you choose and why?

    My opinions

    Offense:
Tracer - Basically good and all-around in every scenario. 1v1s are a piece of cake. Annoy the shit out of people and break through enemy lines relatively well. I don't play much with attackers so maybe I could be flawed with my choice, but when I do it's usually Tracer or Pharah.

    Defense:
Junkrat - This was a difficult choice for me, as I actually don't play Junkrat more than I do Bastion. I really enjoy Bastion, but the issue with him is he becomes really easy to counter later on in a round and is NOT good in a lot of scenarios. He's very specific to the map and team. However, Junkrat on the other hand can defend pretty well in most cases, and has that edge over Bastion. Also, who doesn't love his team kill ult?

    Tank:
Reinhardt - I do this partially because I can never depend on my team to have a good Reinhardt. He's basically absolutely necessary when it comes to capping objectives. If I'm playing Reinhardt while capping, I basically carry my team AKA they would lose without me. I think other tanks like Zarya are good, but not as necessary as Reinhardt.

    Support:
Mercy - Hands down my best and favorite character. I play a mean Mercy, and my team is unstoppable with me on support. Zenyatta has a nice offensive moveset, and if someone knows how to play an offensive Lucio then they would probably have the edge over me, but I'm talking pure support wise Mercy is the best in my opinion.

Best hero from each class and why?

Offense: Soldier 76 - All-around beast of a character playable in virtually every scenario. Good utility for an offensive based hero. Amazing kit.

Defense: Hanzo/Junkrat - Both kings of keeping objectives clear, very hard to push up against and they both do well on offense too (Hanzo is arguably better on offense than defense, but still fantastic on both.) Great zone control and versatile on most maps.

Tank: Reinhardt - In a tier of his own, insane hero. If you don't have a Reinhardt on attack you've lost, he's even played a majority of games on defense now too. You basically need this hero on your team. Roadhog I'd say is a very distant second best in the tank department.

Support: Lucio - Just too good and not as much of a niche pick as the other supports. Doesn't need a tank to flourish - incredible offensive capabilities and insane utility. Another must pick.

Best hero from each class and why?

Offense: Reaper - Amazing flank potential and can cause a ruckess behind enemy lines. Devastating Ult. Good at getting behind single heroes causing you problems and soloing them (Bastion/Hanzo/Widow)

Defense: Mei - Good damage, good team ult. Self heal/invulnerability. Annoy the shit out of the opposing team.

Tank: Zarya - Broken af when in the right hands (imo) She can pretty much stop the game in its tracks. AMAZING ult when paired with the right teammates. Great damage when at =>50% charge.

Support: Lucio - Some maps he has good push off potential, great ult for pushing or countering enemy ults. Actually does good damage if you land his shots.

Some solid picks. I've heard/seen that Soldier is a good character but tbh I just never find the time to play him. By that, I mean I'd rather play someone else if I could.

Damn, I met a guy at a lounge the other day while playing Overwatch and he had the same exact play style/character set and he was pretty good.

    Offence

reaper - all round great character can bust tanks, clear areas and stay on a point for extended periods of time

    Defence

Junkrat - solid pick always reliable even in the hands of garbage players

    Tank

roadhog - can self heal keeping himself alive in tough situations, hook on squishies is just straight kill, lomg range/short range attacks and his ult is great control/defence.

    Support

Lucio - consistent character, always relevant even with bad players, if played well can stay alive forever with his wall slide and character movement.

Would say more but typing on an ipad is annoying.

    Haha wasn't me! :p
I just think getting behind the enemy lines and causing havok gives leeway for your team to push when they send some back for you.

Offence would have to be Soldier 76. Really consistent damage and I love the feel of playing him. His ultimate is one of the easiest to use, so maximizing his abilities is much easier compared to another hero such as tracer who has a very high skill ceiling.

Defense is always Junkrat. Super fun to play and getting POTG just from exploding is pretty funny. Don't play this class that often though so it may change.

Tank is Roadhod. I main thresh in LoL, so he is naturally my favorite to play. Not much to say here. He can one shot squishies and heal himself.

When I play healer I choose Lucio because of how consistent he is despite how much I tend to kill myself. Don't have to do much to win, but it feels really nice never dying.

Offense - Reaper, extremely powerful and hard to kill. His ultimate is one of the most powerful in the game which can single handedly win games.

Defense - Junkrat, one of the most annoying heroes to deal with and if played correctly should get gold damage every game.

Tank - Winston, this was a tough choice but Winston much like Reaper can win games on his own by knocking the opposition off the payload/point to get that extra push or to win in OT

Support - Lucio, one of the most fun heroes to play and is never a bad choice. His ult is a perfect counter to just about any heroes ult. With an aggressive play style and good aim he can be extremely powerful not only with his healing but his damage.

Winston? Never heard that before. He's by far the worst character imo. I've never been killed by a Winston and have played against many. Wanna go into a bit more detail with your strategy?

Winston is extremely powerful, his ultimate brings his health back to full as well as gives him the ability to knock enemies off the objective or even the map with ease which can end overtime for the attackers or buy his team time to get back in the fight on offence. Not only that but his Barrier Projector can save his teammates from an otherwise fatal Mcree/Soldier Ult among many other things. His jump pack also makes him a threat at anytime he can easily withdraw from a fight or engage the enemies which helps his team push into the battle. His weapon which is also very powerful requires no aim can get some nice poke damage on the enemies or even a kill in a 1v1.

Heres an example of how powerful he is

Your team is right on the edge of capturing the payload to win the game. Winston jumps into the opponents drops a barrier and ults when his health is around 3/4. Smacking the opponents off the objective. While all this is happening your team is engaging the enemies and you get that last push in to win the game.

Winston is a support, while he can get kills it's not always the priority. The main objective is to set your team up that's why he's the support. Every supports ultimate (with the exception of Roadhog) is made to set up your team. Also, I find it hard to believe a Winston has never killed you. :p

    Tl;dr
Winston is made to set up his team for big team fights that could be the deciding factor of a match.

ps. There are no bad Overwatch characters just some are better in different situations

Picked up Winston in a few games and took your advice. Not bad at all, I take back what I said. His speed and ability to help cap is extremely useful. I would probably still pick the other tanks in most scenarios, but there are a few specific scenarios in which Winston proves very reliable, if not necessary.

    Bump.

Also, man, my opinion has changed on almost everything right now. I've gotten a decent amount of playing time with most heroes and... well... they're all great.

Best hero from each class and why?

Oh man, I'll try to do this as best as I can because I pretty much just stick to a fairly small hero pool. Sorry if I get any heroes under the wrong role.

Attack - My two favorite heroes in the game would have to be Genji and Tracer. I like being very mobile, and playing as Genji the deflect and his ultimate are just very rewarding to me when you make plays. Tracer because you can dash around and pick people off 1 by 1.

Defense - Hanzo (?) - not sure if he counts. But I like the idea of the bow and arrow and sniping people. I've also just recently started playing Junkrat and I'm not the best with him but he has potential.

Tank - ROADHOG. I can just walk in the middle of people, heal and hook people in the face and 1 shot them?? I'll take that.

Support - All I've ever played for this role is Mercy and she's pretty basic. Although I'm working wonders healing for the team, I feel like I'm not doing as much as I should to help the team when I play as Mercy. I feel like all I do is just follow people around and help them make the plays and get the kills.

my decisions are based on the ease on which the character can be played while i think a good genji, winston, symmetra can be game changers but you find too many people who play them not very good and bad people who play those characters make you lose so here we go.

attack pharah, distracts the players, hard to kill without the right setup, takes out turret/bastion and her ult is very good. second is reaper kills squishys with ease and even tanks with 3/4 of their health left good ult hard too kill.

defense: Junkrat hands down his destructive spamable power is just crazy ult is powerful and can even be played on offense is done so regularly, also i see more potg with him then any other.

Tank: Zarya Tough fucking bitch to kill, her shields are nice for squishys, her full powered gun is killer, and ult is a nice setup, and if played with a winston or reindhardt makes for a nasty combo. Second place is winston he is distracting as fuck even a bad one and can get your team through choke points by catapulting and going straight to site and deviding the enemy forces.

healer/support: Lucio for king of the hill and attack , Mercy for defense.

Best hero from each class and why?

    My opinions are ...

    Offensive: Soldier.

This is one hell of a safe pick. I find his helix rockets and a few shots can take care of any 200-250 hero, and his sprinting with his healing serves as quite the safety net to any mistakes. His ult always does work as long as you position and focus correctly.

    Defensive: Junkrat

Easy to play and is very rewarding if you get creative. General grenade spam will get you kills and break down defenses, shooting them at an angle is smart too. Set traps around flanks to protect yourself, you can even satchel them for cheese kills. Satchel re-positioning is very nice and will definitely help you get to those higher places to rip-tire.

    Tank: Reinheart

Come on. Has a huge shield with potential to block huge damage, effectively protecting your team, and it also regenerates fast. Firestrike has decent supplemental damage and will get your ult up quick. Charge and pinning makes taking the first point almost guaranteed if you get a pick. Great health pool and decent melee damage, also comes with the game changing ult that many people will always underestimate the range of.

    Support: Zen

He's my boy. Discord paired with his huge ammo pool makes him practically another dps (tanks just don't seem so tanky anymore), and autopilot healing with harmony allows you to focus on damage. His ult will negate practically any ult that doesn't one-hit, easily turning the tides of a fight. You can also initiate with his ult.

Best hero from each class and why?

    Offense: Soldier.

It's been said already above so I'm not gonna beat a dead horse on this matter. Honestly though, I think he's overall the best hero in the game and works in pretty much every teamcomp / situation.

    Defense: Bastion.

My go-to when games aren't going well, or when I just want to make sure we have shit on lockdown. I enjoy sitting in less common spots that cover less traveled, yet important choke points and also to stay on the move. Just the thought of having a bastion on the other team often times tilts them and causes them to frantically search for me.

    Tank: Roadhog.

I don't really care for the tank playstyle in FPS games. The way I play just doesn't mesh with being in the frontlines and attracting attention and assuring your "carries" are safe. I play Roadhog similar to how I play Reaper where I comb the outskirts of the objective picking people off one by one. I still group up when it comes to taking objectives, but Roadhog's kit allows me to be a threat on my own instead of a supporting character to someone else.

    Support: Lucio.

I honestly think behind Soldier, Lucio is the best character in the game. No matter what I'm doing, as long as I'm standing by someone I'm being useful / helpful. His ult is amazing for countering other ults, but also for making final pushes / a final last stand. I don't think there is a better character for holding capture points, and once you master wall-riding on him (which is incredibly easy on PC once you bind jump to your mousewheel) you honestly become "un-targetable" running all over the place.

Best hero from each class and why?

Offense: Genji - His kit just has it all: long-range harass, close-range burst, unmatched mobility with resets, a reflect ability, and insane AOE damage with his ultimate. Probably a bit too strong at the moment.

Defense: Junkrat - Good spammable damage with a lot of disruptive power. I don't think that any of the defense heroes are all too great right now though.

Tank: Zarya - Can shield allies and has surprisingly high damage output when charged. Her ultimate is great for setting up plays and allows her to fit into almost any team comp.

Support: Zenyatta - Best survivability of all the supports with the majority of his health pool in shields, decent damage, and +50% damage debuff with orb of discord  His ultimate also nullifies a lot of other ultimates (namely Reaper, Pharah, and Genji (kind of)).

Best hero from each class and why?

Offense: Genji - This is dependant on the enemy team's comp. If they have 2 tanks, Reaper or Mccree; If they have a Pharah, you need a hitscan to focus her, namely Mccree; Either Zen or Mercy as one of their supports, Genji; or if you have a good Ana, and your Genji mechanics are similar to Shadder2k's, then Genji is still a viable pick against any team comp :).

Defense: Mei - She's probably the strongest hero in the current meta. Ult charges up ridiculously fast; can be considered a tank due to how long she can stay alive and tank damage. Not to mention the insane circumference of her ult, she can turn around a losing team fight just by using her ult.

Tank: Zarya - Zarya's Graviton Surge is probably one of the best ult's in the current meta because it can combo with any other ult. Also Ana's Biotic Grenade can negate a Zen ult if combo'd with the Zarya ult.

Support: Ana - Ana is basically unkillable due to her kit. She can sleep dart anyone who is focusing her, and Biotic grenade under herself to save her and do damage against who ever is targeting her as well; not to mention if she hits a group of teammates with her Biotic Grenade, they will all benefit greatly from Lucio's healing. Plus she has super long range and can heal from a distance to avoid being targeted by enemy combo ults and whatnot.
